Description
Ne no Kami is a romantic Japanese yuri visual novel adventure. A unique feature in Ne no Kami is the use of videos to illustrate battles and action, dynamically changing the pace and tension.

~At dawn, the moonlight illuminates the old capital enveloped in fog. Guided by fate, bound by their thoughts, the maidens dance. Amid a spiral of despair, the beloved princess and her guardian knight overcome their fear. Gazing up at the dawn sky, the princess of the earth gently averts her eyes. Descended from the heavens, bearing her dreams. Scooping up the ripples from the water's surface. The princess of the sun gazes, and contemplates. Light dwelling in their cerulean eyes, and with a will that can break down the wall of fate.

The dancing maidens of the old capital become the princess knights.~

A large earthquake rocks Kyoto at its core, unsettling the balance of the world. Through television and radio, news of absurd behaviors and emergence of cults became frequent, and demons sightings were reported all throughout Japan. But with the passage of time, society's belief in the supernatural was fading and the people's interest would eventually return to the mundane, regular life. The demons were no longer seen, and the world has become "peaceful" at the surface. Not long thereafter, the events of the earthquake were all but forgotten. Len has been living her entire life as a regular high school student. But suddenly, she is reunited with Shinonome, her childhood friend from long ago, and receives the ominous message-

“Len, you are going to abandon this town... and die—today”

Since her reunion with Shinonome, Len's life is thrust into an all new “reality,” and the curtain which hid the “truth” of this new world is been lifted. Len and Shinonome must tempt fate and face a world in which reality is all but blurred, as the truth of this world comes to light.

  • Thrilling yuri adventure from Kyoto based independent developer Kuro Irodoru Yomiji.

  • Superb art direction brings characters to life. Video and animation assist the action for truly dynamic storytelling.

  • Yuri is love, Yuri is life

Not what it seems to be

It's just a run-of-the-mill shounen-manga style visual novel. The promised yuri has to be purchased somewhere else and be manually patched back in. Even the kiss-scenes have been cut out. This title barely classifies as a shoujo-ai as it's being sold on this platform. I am sad to say that I cannot recommend this title.

Meh (Review for Parts 1 and 2)

I purchased Ne No Kami with decently high expectations, given that I have enjoyed Sekai's previous games on GOG. However, I can't really recommend it. The description talks about princesses, about fate, and about knights. What we get over the ten hours of playing time (for Part 1 and 2) is far from this, instead being full of common visual novel tropes. Light spoiler summary: Our main character, Len, is a normal high school girl until she is whisked away and taught about a world that has remained hidden beneath a "veil" (for lack of a better term) through the machinations of an ancient, nigh ethereal organization. The ayakashi (yokai) are involved, as is the pantheon of a culture very far removed from Japan and advanced scientific technology. It's something we've seen in anime and manga time and time again, and I grew tired of it pretty quickly. The characters, despite the claims on this page, are not sufficiently well written to elevate the material to what was promised. Also, note that this is a censored version; uncensored patches for these games are not free, but must be purchased elsewhere. Why am I giving this two stars, then? The animation is still pretty good, So that's worth a star. Note that Part 1 and Part 2 have to be played in order for this game to make any sense. This is not a game you can just pick up in the middle; if you buy one, you might as well buy both.

Censorship go brr

Please GOG, don't market a yuri game on the store with the tags sexual content etc. if all of it has been cut for censorship. Or if you do please make it clear that it is a censored version by putting that in the title, or at the top of the description, and not right at the bottom where it's hard to notice.

Novella for little girls

The story could be good but it is so slow. Why girls have childy voices? And this is even not a game, GOG should have a unique part for this, like for movies.
