Good, but buggy adventure game

The Nancy Drew game series is generally a fun assortment of adventure/edutainment titles and Curse of Blackmoor Manor is significantly darker than a majority of the other entries. The character models are unintentionally creepy and aren't animated very well, the voice acting isn't the best, the interface can be a bit limited and sometimes you're stuck playing around in a time wasting game of luck instead of solving an actual puzzle (like when you have to play Bul), but for the most part, this is a pretty enjoyable game. Where it really falters, however, is in the significant amount of bugs that plague the puzzles throughout the game (wait until you get to the frog/pond puzzle...), and it's quite possible to run into a number of game breaking glitches in this one. I recommend playing on Senior Detective difficulty if you enjoy a challenge (aside from the aforementioned issues with the awful frog puzzle), while Junior Detective is quite appropriate for the younger players. Hopefully GOG continues to add more of this franchise to the service, because everyone should get the chance to play Danger at Deception Point and Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake!

One of the stronger Nancy drew titles

Im not going to say they they all are amazing, many have there flaws. But I still enjoy the franchise. Blackmoor manor is one of the stronger entries in the franchise.

all-time classic of the series

Having played all of the 30+ ND games, this is considered one of the best. It's older, and looks it, but the gameplay, music and immersive experience is top-notch. Her interactive hit this high watermark early on, and not often since. great voice acting, too.

Average but flawed

A typical point and click adventure. Pretty hard, I needed 2 hints from the internet. Several good puzzles but also some poor. Main gripes: Way too many mouse clicks required to navigate through the house and esp. the secret passages which are also very boring. It feels like the developers used it to increase the length of the game. They did succeed, but I didn't like it. Worst was the triangle puzzle where you need about 80 mouse clicks to travel from one part of the puzzle to the other part. And as I didn't know the solution to that puzzle, I spent much more. Not much variation of environment, all takes place in a single house. Several timed puzzles: I hate timed puzzles in an adventure game. Some inconsistencies in remarks of Nancy led me to the wrong conclusion. No text hints for the inventory items. Although most are clear I was completely stuck because I interpreted one image as a pair of biscuits, but is was something else.

Good but not great

I got this to play with my kids as we enjoy reading Nancy Drew books. The overall playthrough was okay, but nowhere near as amazing as Laura Bow games. It was pretty buggy throughout which made puzzle solving pretty frustrating at times. I felt the game also lacked consistent clarity in what to do next or even where to go to search. I found myself just wondering around the house clicking on things at times to try and figure it out. The characters in the game give off an animatronic creepy vibe... which I don't think is intentional? The dialogue was also pretty hit or miss. I also feel it could have had a much smoother interaction throughout the game when searching for clues or talking to characters. Overall - it wasn't an awful play, but I would go into it with pretty low expectations.
