I played this for 8 hours, w/food breaks

Pros: - Amazingly realistic graphics (buildings and environment) that you can dial up or down based on your computer. - Never felt cheesy or fake, you WILL feel like you're in the medieval times - VERY deep crafting system, you won't be making everything in a day - Multiple skill trees to choose from that you increase by doing things in them (ex. cutting trees) - Interesting premise to start you off, you're not the chosen one, but neither are you a no one - Quests and sub quests were engaging without detracting from immersion - You get to pick a wife or rather win her over to marry you to begin your legacy - You kill animals realistically but are not REQUIRED to do so, to get food. Also rabbits caught in traps are simply already dead when you go to retrieve them, no bunny slaughter required! And there's fishing Cons: - A tutorial would be helpful, there are guides elsewhere though, You must hit Q to bring up "choice" menu to craft a STONE axe out of ROCKS, (took 20 minutes of forum searching to get that little tip lol) - My future wife choices are not that pretty, but then again neither am I. Might be nice to pretty up the people a bit though tl;dr Get it, it's fun

Fun, but clearly a work in progress.

As it stands, MD (as I will call this game) is in development. That being the case, there are a few things that I hope to see ironed out, and since I don't have a lot of words to use, let's get right to it. 1. The temperature system is wonky. I died my first playthrough because I couldn't stay warm. To mitigate this, I built a fire, but in this game, fires don't keep you warm - even fires made with in-game firewood. For the first year you apparently have to do one particular quest chain that requires that you run clear to the other side of the map to get warm clothes. It's not really hinted at that this will be crucial in the early game, and if you don't have the right skills to make clothes when winter hits, and you haven't done the quest, you're just out of luck and dead. It also doesn't make sense, because after you get warm clothes, you can jump in the water and swim in winter, and you're fine. That part of the system feels very unforgiving and I hope to see it rectified once it's out of alpha. 2. At night, animals give absolutely no indication that they're sneaking up on you. I get that that's what they do IRL, but it just turns into a series of jump scares. Boars could grunt, wolves could bark, but they don't when they are after you at night. 3. Each season has exactly three days in it. In my second playthrough that I'm in now, I was racing around trying to get skills to make warm clothes to make absolute certain that I didn't die, and it felt like a cross between a race and a job. I play games because I like to relax, and maybe my approach was bad, but I can only tell you how I feel. A bit more time would be nice. 4. I would kind of like to see a voiced tutorial and maybe some voiced characters in-game eventually. I'm out of words, let me close with a compliment. This has a feel like KC:D - which I loved. It's just you get to build stuff. I'd like to see more weapons and armor but the game isn't quite there yet. It's in a raw form, but it's still good.

2 hours aaaand.. pretty cool adventure !

So this is a "early access" or "in development" if you want but the experience built upon Unreal Engine never crashed or showed signs of poor optimization in the two hours i ran around in this game. There are few visual bugs like people standing on the tables or stuck in walking near others but everything else is pretty smooth: the foliage is so natural, the animals..the weather, the view.. I hope they improve the dialogues and maybe even add voice overs because people seem quite nice in the villages. You have lots of stuff to do: cutting, building, huntint, fishing, etc etc.. aaaand.. flirting with girls ! But careful - the older ladies don't want younger males (like yourself at 18) to woo them in.. so it seems you must stick to your own 18 years old girls.. Anyway.. a cool game and i wish it much content and more finish touches in time !

Great fun for the most part

I loved the first 80 or so hours of Medieval Dynasty. Starting a village is a struggle, which I liked. You really have to hustle and grind to improve your skills and get new things. I love a somewhat peaceful but challenging game that lets me create my own world and this game definitely does that. You have to be okay with grinding though, which I am. I like the buildings, the style, the animals and the villagers, who found families of their own. The village feels alive and I want to take care of it and I enjoy being there. I liked the updates the devs gave us so far too. What I don't like is how boring the game gets once you reach a certain point. By now my village is basically running itself and all I have to do is pay taxes and do the herold-quests once a year. All quests including the herold-quests repeat themselves and there isn't a wide variety to them. So by now I'm crazy rich, I have everything a village could possibly need and there's nothing more for me to do. Which is okay after a 100 hours I guess - but the game is supposed to be a 'dynasty game'. So having offspring and growing a village over generations is basically the point. By now I see no point in playing anymore, there is nothing more for me to achieve and do. I'm sad about that because I actually want to keep playing this game - I hope the devs will implement more things to keep the game interesting and make the 'dynasty experience' enjoyable. Tl;dr: Definitely worth buying! Only 4/5 stars because it gets repetitive after a (long) while.

Greatly promissing

The game starts by pointing that war isn't its thing, this is a game about living as a countryman, fleeing from the suffering of war. We must start with noting, survive, get a house, a job, form a family. It's promised we can start from nothing and build an empire. Sadly, we're not there yet. I had played for a few hours and it was fun at most part, I'm gonna keep watch while they keep developing it. We have some villages around, and their NPCs are all named, have their houses, their jobs. That's awesome, I'm done with games that create random NPCs just to make the city look full. Each NPC have their own disposition towards us, based on talks and actions we do to them. Some have quests so we can help them. Talks still need a lot of work. We have just a couple of subjects to choose, and it's hard to tell if an NPC will like that subject or not. All subjects and possible answers are the same, they aren't specific to any NPC. I wonder if each NPC has subjects they like and dislike and if I'd need to remember what to talk to each NPC, but I didn't take the time to note their answers and try again later. Difficulty also is weak now. The field has a lot of resources to collect, which we can sell for money and some of them are food we can eat. We're not dying of starvation at all. For now it's better to sell food gathered on the field then buy from NPCs, because their food weights much less and are much more nutritious. We can buy animals to raise, but I don't see the need for that, or manufacture food, as selling gathered food provide enough money to just buy it. I think the ideal is that we'd barely survive and make profit from gathering, sufficient to start our business. There are a lot of stuff to craft and build, but as I visited the 2nd village it got too repetitive and boring, so I'm just stopping for now. Graph is great, it's created using UE. Water is bugged and keeps flickering, but nothing that breaks gameplay.
