An underrated classic!
[Written on the basis of the original game // Do keep in mind nostalgia plays a factor here on my 5 stars rating] Oh boy, does it feel like Christmas came a few days earlier! This is quite possibly one of the best games you've never heard of: hailing from the late 90's and looming in the shadow of much more well known titles, Mass Destruction is an cation shooter that puts you in the role of a tank (you can chose which tank depending on the mission and your preferred playstyle) and sets you off to destroy anything in your path. Quite literally. Be it ground to ground or air to ground, you'll have a wide arsenal at your disposal to unleash hell on whatever you might face, in glorious isometric graphics that (in my opinion) still hold rather well to this day. The controls tend to feel a bit stiff at times, especially when you're facing difficult terrain (yes, this is absolutely a thing) that migh lead to an untimely demise if underestimated. The AI is ok, nothing to write home about but very decent for the time, and missions are varied enough to keep you entertained for a few hours and leave you wanting for another round every so often. In terms of difficulty, your experience may vary. While not a game i'd describe as punishing, it does have a few moments of frustration here and there, especially as you get used to having to deal with multiple attack vectors. If you end up feeling stumped, changing your tank and approach will usually solve the issue. The audio compartment is good enough. Again, nothing to go head over heels about, but does its job and does it well. All in all, this game's worth a go in my opinion, especially if at a discount (got it on release). Maybe it won't be your next favourite, but it defenetly IS a Good, Old, Game.
