"Oh, that didn't go well!"
This game is fun, but it has some annoyances that make it less than five stars. I've only played single-player so far. Good: The concept and game itself is fun. Artwork and music fit the story and casual game style. Bad: No way to set controller buttons, and it doesn't match my 8BitDo SNES-style gamepad for what the game calls "A", "B", or "Y". No in-game volume control, background of the field-of-play settings (solid color > busy animation), or much of anything. When you win or lose, the field-of-play is cleared before you can tell what the heck happened. Some rounds will end suddenly, apparently because the opponent hasn't kept up. Ugly: In Story Mode, the game gives you unlimited retries on challenge levels, but there is no Continue option when playing normal levels. If you lose best-of-three against the AI opponent, the helper character notes "Oh, that didn't go well!" before you're dumped at the main menu. This is annoying because replaying the easier levels to get back to where you were isn't fulfilling. Give me unlimited Continues, or the option for it! SNES Tetris Attack does that, and it makes it much more fun-casual. There's no score to reset. If the developers can tweak this game to improve these issues I think this could be an awesome casual game.
