Lula: The Sexy Empire

So, I played this game once a while back. It was confusing, tedious, made no sense, and I kept losing, over and over. Eventually, I got fed up, and deleted it. As the years went on, I always wanted to revisit the game, to see if it was as bad as I remember, or if it was how i was playing, or what not... But I could not find it anywhere. Then GOG gave me my extra shot. Some things to realize: - There is nudity, but Netflix 'NR' rated nudity. HBO at midnight level nudity. It's kinda funny in a way, with the weird contorted faces, and the unrefined "Western" style of nude cartoons from the 80s / 90s. Much is hidden in the form of Easter Eggs, so if that's your goal, move around a lot and click things (there's a lot more in Part 2 than Part 1). - The game doesn't like to tell you jack about how to play. Sure you can press F1 for help in an area, but it tells you what can happen there (not always), but never really how to do it. This will drive the impatient away very quickly. I nearly gave up in Part 1 because its not obvious that you need to develop your photos at the camera shop, before you can sell them to the distributor. - Three parts, Three Different "Games". Each kinda has a time limit of sorts. The First part has a direct time limit to get new papers before the FBI come after you. The Second part you have a money sink, that you are constantly fighting against. I have yet to reach or remember the Third Part, but I figure it has a money sink as well. The start of each part is difficult, as your trying to play catch-up real fast. Once you get out of the red zone, and meet a groove, have a steady income, etc, the game starts to get real easy, real fast. So you if don't mind a bit of a challenge, some nudity, and not knowing what the hell you are doing for the first hour of each part of the game... Lula: The Sexy Empire is a real gem. Final Note: Play with Headphones...Nearly half of the areas seem to have some moaning sounds at some point in time.

Do you hate games that don't take themselves seriously, that have humor or graphics that haven't aged well, or that deal with adult themes in a haphazard way? Then do NOT buy Lula: The Sexy Empire. If however, you want a game with surprisingly fun strategy that changes things up before it gets too boring, has classic art in the form of Carsten Wieland's efforts, and generally treats it's subject matter as something to poke fun at, then I recommend giving Lula a try. The art is fun, if dated and pixelated. It's definitely of Carsten Wieland's style and looks like it could fit in an adult MAD magazine without trouble. The gameplay is interesting and fun, though there isn't a whole lot of challenge or replay value, it's a good diversion, but not going to replace Civilization or Total Annihilation. It changes up between 3 different "levels" with similar goals (making a lot of money) but very different mechanics in getting there. The humor is definitely immature. This is, again, like MAD magazine. You get fart jokes and meta-humor through poking fun at bad dubs and porn music (You can make the music in your videos a waltz if you wish). This isn't going to be something you fall over laughing about, but if you enjoy immature humor you're going to get a few titters and be amused through quite a lot of the game. My recommendation is to buy the game if you're not easily offended and in touch with your inner teenager. It's a good game, just not a great one. It has good gameplay, humor, and art, all while treating itself as a very non-serious game.

I`ve played this game for well over 200+ hours in all honesty this is not really pornographic, its all still cartoon sex its not even animated with porn sound effects. if you click on some of the items on screen you get to see a 10 sec porn video clip at 60x60 pixels (for example in the storage warehouse click on the tv in the background) I played this over and over again for one simple thing in the porn video store when you have the movie studio. there is a table showing which studio had the highest rated and highest income movies my aim was to get all my movies in all 10 slots. it took me months forcing actors to comply with the scripts getting the stories right and the editing, by this time i actually had enough money saved in the bank that the last part of the movie was done in hours. just emptied the bank account and took over the world.

I loved this game.... actually, I still love this game. Not so easy management, jokes, funny solutions and almost the biggest score: Lula herself. It would be great to get the wallpaper and avatar sets too, but the game is good enought and worth to buy it.
