He's trying to live up to the legend of his uncle, Larry Laffer, everyone's favourite polyester playboy. Larry Lovage is a typical college student. He lives in a dorm, has a crush on his biology professor, and goes to bars with his buddies. But when a TV dating show comes to campus, Larry gets a chance for national sexposure. If he can show that he can make any girl on campus swoon, he will become a campus legend.

Follow Larry's hilarious exploits and misadventures in the wackiest college story ever. Updated with 3D graphics, engaging real-time conversations, and a fully realized college campus, Larry is back to give gamers some lovin'. Remember, it's not about who you impress, but who you get to undress!

Not as bad as you've heard, but not as great as the originals

Posted on 2013-05-14 08:03:57 byseanjjordan's avatarseanjjordan:

I actually played through this game when it came out, and I've never understood the bad rap it gets. It's not that bad a game, provided that you're not a fan of the originals.

If you're playing this game after finishing the vastly superior Al Lowe games (including the pinnacle of the series, Leisure Suit Larry: Love for Sail), then you'll probably dislike LSL: Magna Cum more It lacks the wit, the charm and the good design of its predecessors.

But it's also not all bad. There's some surprisingly good writing in this game, and some of the humor is actually quite solid. There are some good ideas in the design, too. What's unfortunate is that the game was created with the casual gamer in mind, and the weird fusion of adventure gaming and minigames doesn't gel too solidly.

Here's what you can expect while playing this game: a lot of repetition of a minigame where you pilot a sperm through a series of lanes to try to get the bet conversational outcomes. If you make too many mistakes, you fail the conversation and you have to start over. If you succeed, you'll miss out on some of the more clever writing as you find yourself paying more attention to the minigame than the onscreen action. This game was launched before quick time events became all the rage on consoles; had it arrived a couple of years later, the casual interactions would have likely been replaced with timed button presses.

Missed Gameplay Opportunities, Decent Story

Posted on 2014-01-30 02:30:39 byThraxamer's avatarThraxamer:

First, this game was developed by High Voltage Software, not Codemasters. Also, it was published by Vivendi Universal, who purchased Sierra's assets, not Sierra.
How do I know this? I was the lead designer.
Now hold off the with torches and pitchforks. Allow me to share a story.
High Voltage was handed a treatment by Vivendi. We were told to make a game centered on minigamesread more and boobs, using the Larry franchise. "Adventure games are dead," they said. "No one wants an old-fashioned Larry game," they said. "Make Larry relevant to the 19-22 year old set," they said.
So my fellow team members and I rolled up our sleeves and started to work.
I fought to make sure we had a great story included in the game. Our talented writers did an excellent job, given our constraints. We all pulled together and added what elements we could to make the game fun, beyond the conversation game and the 12 minigames that made up the rest of the gameplay.
The voice acting was superb, and the original music was great. We were also able to license some fun music. While on this project, I worked with some of the best programmers, artists, animators, and designers I've ever met in the industry. I'm still very proud of that team and what they did, in the face of a difficult set of requests.
Enjoy this for what it is: a fun story, a little romp in a Larry-esque universe, a way to add a little risque to your play. It's well worth the price and just might bring a smile to your face.

Misunderstood arcade in Larry world

Posted on 2013-05-14 09:39:29 byDiovizor's avatarDiovizor:

Bad news everyone! This is not adventure at all. Just arcade!
If you can’t deal with that, you really dislike this game. That not what you expected from Larry series. Just replay original games from Al Lowe once again and forget about it.
But if you can take the difference, this is not bad game at all.
Funny and colorful world. Pretty characters. Simple atmosphere. Flatread more gameplay with minimal quest elements, easy minigames and somewhat heavy QTEs.
But this is not bad. This is just simple arcade game for relax!
Otherwise this game is too sexy for your party. Please move along. There is nothing to see.
