Legions!
I had this when it came out. I was 38 then lol. It's a pretty good strategy game with diplomacy in it. I have fond memories of it. I was deep into ancient Greek military history back then, so I enjoyed it even more. For it's time Mindscape did a good job.

It's Legions!
If you are here to buy a game like this, it is only because you played it when you were young, just like me. Let me explain briefly: 1- it is a very old and cumbersome game; 2- it is very well edited in terms of historical reconstructions (there is a history manual to read inside); 3- the game mechanics are not at all agile or engaging; 4- the combat system is archaic; 5- but it is Legions... I grew up with it, it ‘initiated’ me into PC turn-based strategy games and I love it. In its own way it is difficult and hard to play. If you are a lover of the genre it is a must buy. On the technical side: the porting to the latest operating systems works well. I personally tested it on Linux using Wine and it worked fine. I recommend it but...only for strong and very patient hearts.

Old-school in its best
I have no nostalgia glasses when looking at this game just because it's the first time I play it. Despite being a huge fan of TBS and historical games (especially set in Antiquity) I never heard about it. It has a very special charm of Windows 3.x-era games. Interface is clean and pleasant to the eyes but newer generations of gamers can be frustrated by it a little. Graphics is nominal. Economy system is effective and not complicated. Diplomacy is rather wanting but it has its strategical meaning nevertheless. The principal fun of playing Legions is in the careful strategical planning of moving your units (there are 43 types (!) of them including camel riders and BURNING PIGS), and tactical planning before automated battles. I could give it 5 stars just for BURNING PIGS but it is a very charming strategy game as a whole, and old-school to the bone.
