Indy's latest adventure plays out in dramatic fashion thanks to new gameplay features such as brawling combat. This time, in addition to using his trademark whip and pistol, Indy can engage in fierce hand-to-hand combat against foes, many of whom are well-versed in martial arts. Improvised weapons such as shovels, chairs and table legs also can be used to fend off adversaries. The result is a more immersive and more Indy-like gameplay experience, set amidst spine-tingling movie-like action sequences, such as a rickshaw chase in Hong Kong and a spectacular battle atop moving gondolas in the South China Sea area.
Explore levels across the globe from Ceylon and Istanbul to Hong Kong and beyond.
Shotguns, submachine guns, improvised weapons - and of course, Indy’s trusty whip and pistol.
Fierce fighting action and hand-to-hand combat.
Original storyline with new villains, wicked enemies and an alluring partner.

This game kind of fell under the radar, and that's a shame. The controls weren't the best, and the puzzles sometimes affected pacing, but at it's best, this is Indiana Jones through and through. Every fist fight is absolutely electrifying, with satisfying impacts, clever use of the environment, and a great feeling of *power.* A single Nazi is no match for Indiana Jones, and 4 at a time just makes it more fun. Not until Arkham Asylum did any game handle hand-to-hand combat so well.
Add in an absolutely fantastic soundtrack that easily bests John Williams's unfortunate Crystal Skull effort, and this makes for a game to play again and again.
Some may consider Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis the best Indiana Jones game ever. Those people would be wrong. It's the best "game" starring Indiana Jones, but it is not the best "Indiana Jones game". In that, it's the game that best makes you feel like you're in an Indiana Jones adventure.
Great fist-fighting action, guns are incredibly useful but very rare, fun action-packed set-pieces, Nazis, a strange power linked to a real-world legend, globe-trotting, amusing and capable sidekicks, a great soundtrack (that's actually totally original even though it sounds John Williams quality, well done Clint Bajakian) and most importantly - someone who at least remotely sounds like Harrison Ford. Take that Doug Lee.
The downside? There's no saving mid-level, the controls are a bit spotty in the platforming sections, there's not enough meeting people before you punch them, and the Nazi Frankenstein Monster is a bit of an early misstep. Otherwise I highly recommend it, especially if you want to BE Indiana Jones instead of just have Indiana Jones in the background to a great game.
Infernal Machine next please GOG, which meets the sweet spot between both games!
I've been waiting to pick this one up for a long time now. Why you ask? Well where do i start:
-The game is simply the best Indy game in my opinion and not just because it has a good story with interesting characters, various locations around the globe to explore etc. but it really succeed in capturing the feel of an Indiana Jones film. Just like the Arkham games to Batman, this game will make you feel like our favorite archaeologist!...
-...One of the reasons that it can do that is the simple but fun combat system. You'll be pounching, kicking and throwing bad guys to death in a really satisfying way that really just never gets boring. Also there are improvised weapons you can use like table legs, shovels, spears etc. which is really badass. As for the shooting mechanics...well that is a little awkward (it's a console port so that's expected) but it gets the job done also there's a cover system that comes in handy).
-You will feel immersed throughout the whole story. Many adventure games tends to get boring and repetitive as you come close to the conclusion but this game is an exception. Even if it's looses some steam and gets a little... well let's say "unrealistic" it still keeps you at the edge of your seat and let's be honest: all Indy stories have to have it's unnatural elements.
-The game is shining at the sound department. Really. While the ambient sounds and the voice acting is very well done the soundtrack is just plain awesome and it really fits to the game atmosphere. Also, every fan knows the feeling of hearing the famous old tune that kicks in just the right times.
-The whole gameplay just feels right! Even if the controls are not the best, all the other things are in the right place. Levels are very well done, especially the first half of the game: you'll be fighting with crocodiles in the jungle, shooting nazis in Prague and swimming with sharks in Istanbul's ancient underground city not to mention the never-ending action in the Hong-Kong levels.
So all in all just give this gem a try, you won't regret it!
This could've been such a great game! Some controls are really cool - the whip, wall hugging & more.
The movements are WASD but carries the console disease - You turn around instead of focus with the mouse. So when you you want to back off a bit & carry on shooting you press S & the idiot turn around & shoot into the wall!
Well, for the sake of playing a good adventure I could probably live with this.
Now to what's really ruins this potentially great game - you can't save!
Having to fight the same dudes over & over again just because you have problems with a bridge later on makes the whole experience repetitive & boring.
Shame really - if those two issues could be sorted this is probably a 4 even 5 star game.
This was The Collective's follow up to their awesome Buffy game, and also used that game's Slayer engine, which was pretty awesome circa 2003, and as you can see, doesn't make your eyes bleed today. Unfortunately Buffy never got ported to PC...
Indy is, as you'd probably expect, quite a bit like Tomb Raider, but was MUCH easier to play than the Tomb Raider games were up to that point. It's also got some solid fighting mechanics in it (if less solid/fun than Buffy's were).
Of course since this we've had a reboot with Tomb Raider Legend, and then another reboot with Tomb Raider, both of which made Tomb Raider much more playable. And of course we've had Uncharted doing the same thing on Playstations.
As such, this probably isn't quite the experience it was a decade ago, but it should still be a solid title and worth it, particularly considering the price, if you like...well, Indiana Jones/modern Tomb Raider/Uncharted-esque games.
Oh, worth noting too that The Collective somehow got amazing sound-alikes. The guy playing Indy is actually quite good at it. In Buffy they had most of the cast, but not Buffy, but her soundalike there was fantastic too (and probably aided by having a ton of interaction with Willow, played by Willow).
(Possibly worth noting I found the old TR games frustrating even though I loved the concept. I loved Tomb Raider Legend, but then hated the psesudo follow up, Underworld, which seemed to re-break Legend, necessitating ANOTHER reboot. I also wasn't really a fan of the first Uncharted which was almost just a third person shooter, and not a very good one at that. I loved Uncharted 2 though that I thought paid off more on being an Indiana Jones-esque experience, and the jaw dropping visuals didn't hurt).
