This is a really fun take on the Where's Waldo series that's fun for the whole family. The art style is fantastic and it offers just enough challenge to keep you interested. Well worth the price.
Ok, so I grew up with the Where's Waldo books, and also loved other Hidden Picture puzzle books I was able to get my hands on...
This is such a simple concept for a computer game, but it's so awesome! This is a clean, fun, family friendly game that I can enjoy with my kids, and it scratches my Hidden Picture itch as well.
The levels start off small, but end up being quite large. The difficulty is not too overwhelming, but is still enough to be thankful for the hints that appear as you scroll over the hidden items on the bottom of the screen.
The mechanics are pretty simple as well... Click on anything. There are a number of interactive elements to keep the fun going even when you're stuck and can't find the hidden items. Torches will light up, trees will rustle, creatures and people will make sounds. Even inanimate objects have unique sounds... Like eggs. They sound like eggshells cracking when you click on them. It's these types of subtle attentions to detail that always makes me smile while playing this with my six year old. She loves clicking on the dinosaurs and other animals.
The music is relaxing, if not repetitive. But, hey, this isn't meant to be played for hours on end. Just like you wouldn't want to ride an elevator over and over again. The music would drive you crazy... But from floor to floor it's enjoyable.
The graphics are cute and cartoony, very similar to the Where's Waldo books.
And that's it. It's a hidden picture game with interactive elements, and they don't ask an outrageous price for it. It's a small price to pay for many evenings of fun.
AND... There's a MAP DESIGNER! So, you can design your own maps once you've gone through the pre-made ones. Even write your own hints for the items you hide. And it's super easy to use, so my kids and I can take turns making maps for each other and seeing how long it takes for each other to find everything.
I am so glad this game exists. Really, it's a gem.
Cute little game with a lot of content whent you wish to take a break from lifes hardship. The game does not press you into achieving 100%. If you can't find all hidden items you can still progress to the next level which are cute and varied and get more and more complex over time of course.
The game does a lot to NOT stress you. When progressing to the next era you're introduced into the new graphic set with less complex levels. The game even follows a inner logic which helps you to find the objects, i.e. you'll probably find an axe near some freshly chopped wood.
It's one of these games you can put in front of a five-year-old child without reservations.
Cons: The music is a bit repetetive so it had to turn it off after a while and put on my own.
Played through the main campaign, good fun short game. Could be played in a day but I paced myself doing 2-3 maps a day.
Not obtained the DLCs though I expect the same from them.
Now going through Online Maps, most of the ones I tried are good but I found a couple of errors here.
1 - When you download maps, the filters will not sort them at all so you always get the same 12-13 maps on the first page of downloaded ones. To see others, you have to delete any maps you downloaded and finished or go through the long list of ALL to find the downloaded ones.
2 - Some have visual glitches for unknown reaons. One had 2 homes close together, when I click the nearest home, it also shows some things hidden inside the nearby one and I could not see in the second without clicking the closer one. Some buildings when you click them to see inside, some items outside will appear that were hidden when you could not see inside.
Largely a fun game and th online maps despite glitches that you can work around allow longer playtime, you can also design your own maps though I have not tried that.
These levels are tiny and sparse. What happened to the signature sound? The density? The mind boggling multitude of animations and actions? For the money get Hidden Folks and let this one slide. So much more game there. Burned through this in a few hours. Never did find everything in HF and played for days... Feels a little cash grabby tbh like they licensed it out and left town after the initial success.
