What a bad game.

I have just purchased this game as a duo with Settlers 2. I have tried it for a few hours now, and I simply cannot get past its glaring weaknesses and inherent flaws.
First off, there are no rally points to any buildings. Meaning that you have to run around each building you possess to find your troops. Second off, there are no clear indicators on the map where your mines andread more buildings are, which can make it fustrating to always have to run around to figure out where your people are. Then, the fact that you have to research your barraks is laughable. Did these people acutally play a real-time-strategy game before doing this awful thing?
The camera is atrocious. There is no zoom out, so you're stuck with looking down at your troops like you have a stiff neck. You can make it circle, but it comes back as soon as you release the button. The controls are correct, but nothing more.
Combat is, in a word, disgusting. The computer can simply create any number of troops out of thin air, without any need for time or ressources. Meaning that it is not a fun challenge to fight the computer. It is a endurance match, where you have no satisfaction for your troubles save for another frustrating, repetivive area after this one. Any allies you happen to come across are imbeciles, unable to come and aid if you are inches away from their "target area". Every three minutes or so, the weather changes, making it even more difficult to pinpoint what your people are doing, and where they are. The ressources in each map are scattered around so thinly that you need to run across half the damn map just to find them. You waste so much time actually building up the city, only to finish its quest and having to start a new one immediately.
There is no fun to have here. It's a pooly-made, badly put together game that tries to be a real-time-strategy game, but fails miserably. it is frustating to believe that this game is acutally good, only to see its glaring flaws further down the road. I want my money back.

What you can expect- good and bad.

First of all, I would like to say two things: this is an interesting game, but not designed as well as it could be.
It's charming. No one can disagree that the random, lengthy, sometimes flippant remarks the serfs constantly make or one of the character's "YEEEEEEEESSSSSS!!!" screams doesn't make the game funny at the very least. Sure, hearing these over and over can get old, butread more the terrible voice acting is enjoyable. The story is a bit cliche, but that's what you get in Medieval RTS games 90% of the time. The maps are very interesting most of the time, however, and the mix of gameplay- especially early on- keeps the interest alive. It's what you would expect in terms of building bases and units though, nothing really special there.
It still has flaws, though. There are no rally points to buildings and combat can be a bit annoying when your troops decide to salsa waltz instead of fight. There are times when it feels like you're just harvesting materials to get the best stuff, especially in the late game, and then throwing 500 soldiers against the enemy. The voices do get repetitive and are sometimes annoying, but that's all in how you take it.
All in all, it's worth playing through at least the first half. It has charm and can entertain for at least a little while. I couldn't make this a 4 star because of the issues and the slight boredom towards the end, but it's at least a 3.5.

Ultimately broken behind the pretty veneer

So this game looks great, has a really in-depth building and technology trees, but ... Where this game simply breaks is when you find out it has no AI, not bad AI, it has None!
During the campaign you will be fooled at the start with scripted events, but left alone the computer players do not move, build or even react to you! This will leave you bored as you feel alone with anread more enemy that is for all intents and purposes - not there.
And for anyone thinking they will simply avoid the missing AI and play multiplayer only vs other people - nop, that is also broken. All multiplayer matches are zerg rushes where you have no reason to build houses or anything - the first person to send a few troops to destroy the enemy town centre wins - and there is nothing you can do about it!
Community has a "spoken rule" to not rush for the town centre and actually fight with armies and destroy other buildings, but that relies entirely on both parties knowing/following said "spoken rule".
Bottom line: This game looks like a nice gritty version of Settlers, but the actual gameplay is simply missing.
