Fun, if short, point and click adventure
I have been pleasantly surprised by just how enjoyable a romp Growbot is. You are a rookie robot who has been sent to one of several space stations that defend your home from attack to learn the running of the place and hopefully one day become Captain of the station. No sooner have you arrived than the station is attacked by strange crystals and you have to find your missing crewmates and restore the defences. To be clear, even though your station is under attack there is no actual combat in this game. It is a pure, completely mouse controlled, p&c adventure. The puzzles you solve along the way range from simple to quite challenging but all are solvable with a bit of logic and patience. A couple of the puzzles aren't explained properly what you are meant to do when you start them, which is annoying, but it isn't too hard to work out what to do yourself. The graphics are very good if mostly static. The music and creatures voices (made up noises, no actual speech) are excellent. The joy of the game for me is the creatures and robots that you interact with. They are adorable and the joy on their chubby little faces whenever you help them accomplish a task brought a smile to my own face. I completed the game in just under three and a half hours which is maybe a bit short for the asking price. Having said that, I enjoyed every moment I played and recommend this family friendly adventure whole-heartedly.
