Long ago, a war raged between two powerful deities. Each was sealed away, their weapons scattered throughout the world. Our hero in this RPG, Fang, happens upon one such weapon and now he alone must choose which deity will awaken again!
Key Features
In the three stories to play, friends become foes, foes become friends, and, based on your choices, multiple endings can be unlocked!
Customize weapons by fusing them with fairies and change dungeons stats through World-Shaping. Even transform with the “Fairize” skill and become stronger in battle!
With up to six party members on the battlefield at a time, you can play as all your favorite Fencers!
From Amateur to Hell, choose the difficulty level that suits your style!
At the begining, the heroe is in jail and refuse to go out and save the world because he's kinda lazy and find the food good enough to stay.
I insta loved this game, the best is that the humour doesn't go down. Lots of situations (second meeting with the distant lady is sooo good) and characters are really funny. I was nostalgic of the humour found in the first three nepnep games and this one is up to this hard task.
Good fight, story is definitly ok and it's funny and well written from start to finish. If first three Neptunia game pleased you, this one should also.
For a cheap price you get a banger of a J-rpg,one with branching paths, memorable characters, and a surprisingly in depth leveling up/customization system. At first the game presents itself as a tongue in cheek parody and meta commentary of J-rpgs. Yet it does it in a loving way while managing to weave in deep lore, mature themes, and touching moments as well whilst the soundtrack and VA work are top notch. Even if you have the vanilla version of Fairy Fencer F I recommend it as it adds more endings, two new recruit-able characters, the ability to have up to 6 companions in battle,"and" challenge dungeons absent from the original. (And even if you miss out on a sale the game retails at only $19.99,the fairest bargaining price I've ever come across for a J-RPG of this caliber!)
Despite fights being turn based you can move around freely in the battle zones and string together impressive chain combos to the point it "almost" has the feel live action combat. Granted you have to level up and unlock the proper abilities to be at this full potential. A bit slow going at first but after a few hours in you'll be riding the lightning, devil triggering, and raining down hell fire with the best of em!
My only gripes are the lay-outs and scenery of Fairy Fencer's different environs are a bit lack luster whilst enemies suffer from pallet-swap-itis. However, this world has a vibe distinctly its' own. I dig the overall theme of "Look at these foreign technological structures from ancient civilizations that have been taken over by nature". It has a bright and vibrant yet surreal quality in which medieval towns and rolling green hills are layered over the top of strange metal bridges with flashing neon lights and what could be the derelict remains of a space station that fell out of the sky.
I'm really enjoying the game so far, the story is great, the combat system is really good, and the music is amazing.
The only issue, is that there is a VRAM memory leak. I have an intel i5 10400f, an RX 6700 XT with 12gb of vram, and 64GB DDR4 ram, and I get crashes to desktop with an out of memory error.
Ignore the videos! There's an option in the game that allows you to set movement as Free Move and Auto Target! When you do this, the game plays just like a Tales or Star Ocean title. It's actually a very competent Tales-like.
Yes, there is a lot of silly anime stuff going on and if you hate that sort of thing this game won't change your mind, but if you're looking for a good to great ARPG experience, or something more traditional with plenty of characters to customize, it's actually a very solid game worth your time.
When i bought this game on steam i already finished 2 out of 3 of it's story routes. This game is worth your money because of the replay value. The gameplay is also good because you get to actively play 6 heroes in battles which is i think is rare it's usually an average of 4 that you get to use and also the humour is plenty. And add to that the very pleasingly cute and sexy art drawn by Tsunako who also drawn arts for Neptunia and Date A Live series!
This game is much more darker than the Neptunia series btw. And also like it's sister game and like some RPG out there the game is grindy but you can set the difficulty to super easy so that you can just enjoy the game's story and not needing to put too much hours in the game.
