Blitzkrieg Anthology

This game, at least this first installment, in my opinion is a true successor of Panger General series. Yes it is real time, and yes timing of a click is sometimes important, and yes, sometimes things depend on more luck than what, but still, when you see you have positioned ur anti tank properly, when you realize german 88 flak is indeed a superior weapon , when you see your artillery mopping enemy artillery down, when you feel invincible while clicking your Maus tank towards hell, then you realize this game is REALLY about immersion. Its cruel, its hard, but when you get a knack of the strategy its an immense pleasure. I recommend heartily.

You guys from GOG are reading my mind. I am trying to get this game from various shops in CD/DVD form but they always fail to deliver it due to availability and rarity etc. When you try to download this, you can have this for 30$ and it's never complete. In this you have original Blitzkrieg, Rolling Thunder, Burning Horizon and Iron Division. Superb game with just few flaws which is worthless to mention them. I am buying it right now. Give me now Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middleearth (1) and you are the shop number one for all times!

I enjoyed bliztkrieg when it was originally released. I enjoyed it so much that I got it again off GOG. I enjoyed it again. This game has a great sense of balance every element has pros and cons. The strength / vulnerability of armour. The weakness / expendability of infantry. The firepower / irreplacability of air support. The destructive ability / cumbersome limited range of artillery. Every unit has its place and the single player campaign serves up many hours of battlefield domination. A+++ would buy again...

There is a lot of hours of gameplay here, and with mods (check my post in the forums) there is even more hours to be had. The game requires a good amount of micro-managing of units, but it is not too much to be annoying. Unlike other WWII RTS games, Company of Heroes in particular, the action can at times be slow and therefore missions can take several hours to complete. The game also leans too much towards artillery. So much so, that I joked the game should be called Artillery Battle. I spend a good 80% of a mission just blasting away enemy positions from a distance. I suggest if you do buy this game, to get the AI patch. Without it, the AI is not only dumber, but cheats. I believe in the base game, the AI can see through buildings and maybe other solid objects as well.
