Banner Saga 3: Deluxe Edition

This is almost a five star rating but Banner Saga 1+2 are such masterpieces and in some regards better than Banner Saga 3 that I decided to give it a slightly 'worse' rating. Every game has its unique themes and played one after another you feel like in an awesome fantasy movie (like Lord of the Rings). There's fantastic music, amazingly written and deep dialogue and all games manage to be interesting AT ALL TIMES. You always wanna know how it continues. Why do I think the other two are better? It's just nuances. BS 3 has definitely more refined and interesting combat than BS 1 but overall you get to know more locations in BS 1 (BS 2 also for that matter) and they also have a few more memorable dialogue sequences. This game is intense at all times which conveys the desperation of the characters final battle and if you don't play this one, the entire story would feel very incomplete (especially after the amazing final of BS 2). Difficulty is a bit unbalanced for all games. The highest difficulty is in some battles too insane, medium difficulty a bit too easy sometimes if you know what you're doing. A fourth difficulty level between that would have been great. BS 2 is just one of the best games ever made. Better in every regard than the other two games. Nuff said. About the Deluxe Edition and compatibility with Steam save games/save files: The item 'Gold wasp' isn't useful at mid and high difficulty. It incentivizes a much more aggressive playstyle which simply doesn't fit with Banner Saga. So that's not a reason to buy Deluxe. But the OST and the other extras are incredible. There are enough people praising the music, so no need for me to do that. No worries regarding compatibility with Steam files. The game should recognize the files automatically so you can import them to your GOG playthrough. If not, you can choose them manually. Easy like that. To summarize, play definitely this game and the other two!
