Metroidvania with exploration focus
Every screen feels like a little puzzle and you always have to look for hints for hidden areas and ways to reach special items. Overall the game plays more slow paced and classic than other Metroidvanias, but that doesn't mean it's easy. You always have to think and focus or you will die easily. All elements fit together very well and match the slower speed.

I loved Alwa's Awakening! This is even better! Just wanted to let the DEVS know this is exactly the kind of game I am always looking for! Some reviews I've read have claimed it's too easy. Please ignore them! It is a huge game with tons of love and thought put into it and plenty challenging for anyone who is a normal gamer that doesn't devote their life to gaming but enjoys a good game from time to time. This game is exactly the perfect balance of challenge without becoming stupid difficult! I end up putting down so many modern "retro" games and never finishing them because they start off fun but end up becoming so difficult, they cease to be fun anymore and become a chore. That is always such a huge letdown! ("Cathedral" I am talking about you!) Alwa's Legacy is consistent, fun and plenty difficult in my opinion. The puzzles are great as well! Not so hard they can't be figured out without reading a walkthru or watching a playthru video, but not so easy they can be solved first time either. Again, I have to say the balance is perfect! The music is also wonderful and perfectly suits the game. I read a review where someone said the music was underwhelming. It is not underwhelming whatsoever, the melodies are perfectly suited to the game and I especially love the fact that many of the same tunes (such as when you die!) have been kept or updated from the first game. Very cool! I just can't say enough positive about this game. What a wonderful surprise! It runs beautifully on my not-so-powerful Linux laptop as well! What more could one want?!?!? I suggest anyone who loves old school RPG PLATFORMING to pick this gem up right now! Thank you for making such a wonderful game! The love shows! I am excited for the 3rd game in the series! Just don't make it 3D!

Pretty good game.
It's a very good game in general. Have many pros, although some cons: Pros: - Graphics and art design. - Sound and music. - Playability and control. - Logic/Puzzles. - Extra difficulty level. Leads you to play slightly differently, instead of buff enemies stats like many games do. Cons: - Length. It's short. Duration about 5-7 hours. - Difficulty levels. At first only have one. And the extra difficulty level isn't a great challenge. The bosses are easy. Neutral: - Can't add annotations to the map, and the map don't show any information about what items you've let in what places. - Will be nice an "hard" mode with bosses more hard, that have more patterns.

For The DLC Collectors...
It's not perfect, but neither were the games of yesteryear, so I consider this a solid Metroidvania. But, I'm actually only writing a review to give people a heads-up that the soundtrack—which is one of the highlights of the game.—is available to download on Bandcamp for "Name Your Price," which means potentially free, though if you pay $1+ it gets added to your Bandcamp library. Enjoy.

Brilliant, an Absolute Masterpiece
I played the first game on a computer and fell in love with it, the game was great. Been waiting for this to come out since it was announced, boy was it worth the wait. The games artwork, sound, music and design are top notch. This is a cool reminder of what it was like to play back in the days of the 16 bit consoles. Its rare that a 2d game can suck you in this much the story line and art work is a just so good that its hard to put the game down. Been playing for 3 hours straight. This is a must own title. This game is an adventure that will not disappoint.
