My mutt, <---- in her enthusiast dancing around as her Mom was coming home from work, yanked the RF cable from the back of the TV, taking the connector with it. Effectively a broken TV, since we get just the OTA signals - no cable, no streaming from the 'net. Tried to find a receiver that would convert HD OTA to HDMI but wasn't coming up with anything simple at a decent price; don't feel like paying $150 when a similar replacement TV can be had for $350.

Normally that sucks, but A) decent sales on new TVs now, so we upgraded to a larger set with 4k and really nice upscaling, and B) I now have a 46" external monitor for the laptops since HDMI still works on the damaged set (might yet take it apart and see if I can repair it). Probably won't use it much but I'll at least have to play around with it, just to check it out. Oh, got a better OTA antenna while we were at it, so the signal is markedly improved.

Hmm, should also play around with the new set to see how well it upscales the input from the laptop. It did a nice job with the OTA signal and the movie we watched last night (SW:Ep3), so it might also do well with this thing. Could make for some interesting possibilities.

We could be cousins, I just bought a nice 4K TV, so howdy cuz.

4K is awesome, and there's heaps of content available and upcoming.

BTW, Jake wants to mount Annie and Sadie, and he wants you and Pete to watch.
I'm fairly happy with my downgrade from 4K to 1080p. This monitor is flicker free with 75hz refresh rate, I definitely feel less eyes sore and the games look smoother.

These bees definitely are not from my neighbor, they didn't sting me even when I get close. (it's stevia flowers).

eksasol: bees
Do bee a good bee, don't bee a bad bee.
Worked out the last bug in some combat code I wrote. Feels good to have it not iterate an extra half round.
Tonight is homemade falafel night.

It's tedious to make, but I do it in bulk and freeze in portions.

Broad beans are shelled, then each bean has to be skinned, that's the tedious part.

Then the skinned beans are minced and a Kleetus family concoction of secret herbs and spices is added.

Shaped into patties, fried in a neutral oil and served on Lebanese bread with diced and seeded tomato.

And falafel farts are my favourite, so spicy and multicultural.
Okay so I said I wasn't going to give money to Sony, but I just bought a PS3 controller, because I was intrigued by it able to pair with the PC by using this program called SCP which masks it as a Xbox controller. So after some fiddling around, took longer than expected because I never used anything from Sony after the PS2, got it working fully over bluetooth. This makes me very happy indeed.

Although the dpad of this controller is rough and not smooth like the older generation controller, which I don't like, making it hard to play fighting games.

It's actually one of the easier thing I had to setup in relation to Sony products. My memory of them is everything is draconian. http://www.theonion.com/video/sony-releases-new-stupid-piece-of-shit-that-doesnt-14309
To this day, I have never purchased a Bluray.

Phantasy Star 3: I *love* the Force Vest.

Example use of this:

In one battle, the following happened (everybody was running low on HP at the start):
Lyle and Lena got killed
Mieu casts Nasak, and it decides to work, killing her (and healing Rhys and Wren)
Rhys and Wren finish the battle.

Result: Rhys and Wren are at high HP, everyone else is dead.

Enter the Force Vest. By having Mieu (who is dead, but the game doesn't care) use the Force Vest on each dead character until it decides to work, I can revive the dead characters, with full HP, for free. Hence, Mieu, Lyle and Lena are back to full health.

Worth noting: If I didn't have the Force Vest:
* I would have healed before hand, which costs TP (every healing spell costs 5 TP in this game)
* I would not have used Nasak (which costs only 1 TP, but kills the caster if it succeeds)
* Reviving (Rever technique) would require 5 TP per attempt, and it can fail.

Having the Force Vest means I don't need to fear death, and also means that I don't need to worry about Nasak's side effect of killing the caster.

Now, I just need a Royal Vest (free Nasak that never fails) and my 0TP healing strategy will be complete. (Another Force Vest wouldn't hurt either, and neither would a Force Shield (restores 50 HP) for that matter.)
