Plenty of spam as of late and not only here. Very strange.

Some spammers(more often than not usually from the same few areas of the world) post such things here from time to time.

And this is nothing.....we had spammers who used to post 30+ threads in the space of under an hour in the past....seems they've thankfully mostly moved on, though.

Hmm, do they gain anything from this? Just recently noticed the comments section on YouTube being assaulted by spam. So much so, that I had to go to reddit for further info. Nasty stuff.

My guess is they(like other spammers on YT/etc) get paid per spam post/comment/thread by whomever they're talking about.

As for YT: I usually report the ones I see, but sadly such comments are like weeds....i.e. you report one user and two more eventually pop up.

That's true, unfortunately. Hopefully, they will sort it out at some point.

Also thankfully most videos don't often have such spam....often it's more the more obscure/less watched ones....and it's not as bad as say Yahoo Groups/Yahoo Answers years back(the spam got so bad, that a number of groups/answer sections were majority spam).
