Microfish_1: My exact question had been "if Yogs is scum, what is Joe?"
avatar
dedoporno: I actually have an answer to this now. If Yog is scum Joe is most likely Town. Joe is most likely Town regardless of Yog but scum!Yog should make Town!Joe even more likely.
Why?

avatar
Microfish_1: I didn't say "to balance". I said "to help balance." ...
Interesting point to be nit-picky about. :-) Especially since with your insistence on 'help' your original question becomes moot, since the answer is obvious: ANY positive utility role helps balance a game for it's faction. That is SO obvious, that I didn't think that that was what you meant with your question. But RB on it's own wouldn't be enough to fully balance it. That was my point.

Well, apart from the interesting exchange between micro and dedo (don't know yet what to make of that before micro replys to dedo's reply), not much new happened. Still no explanation from Carradice. I guess he gave up. Whether he gave up because he actually got caught and can't talk his way out of this anymore or whether he gave up in frustration because he keeps thoroughly misunderstanding everyone and feels misunderstood himself, we will see tomorrow. I guess it's the former.

Lifthrasil: Why?
Because of Joe's reaction to Yog's claim and the role discrepancy I brought up. Unlike others who didn't want to go in that direction Joe explored the idea and appeared to be wanting to make use of that extra information if he could at a point where it wasn't yet forbidden by Pooka (as a matter of fact I stated that I had official permission at that point which was then retroactively revoked) and only Yog himself had declared his reluctance of providing a full clear answer. There are three plausible scenarios here:

1. Both are scum - it makes no sense for scum!Joe to support any additional pressure on his buddy to come out as they would know scum!Yog can't do it properly. At that time it wasn't clear whether or not this would have went the way I wanted it to go so it was a big risk to show support for it as it might have resulted in unwilling bussing. I don't believe Joe would be so quick on bussing his buddy like that.

2. Yog is Town, Joe isn't - it's not in scum!Joe's interest for Town!Yog to share this information as that is likely going to confirm both Town!Yog and myself.

3. Yog is scum, Joe is Town - leaving white-horsing aside and sportsmanship aside, it's in Town!Joe's best interest for Yog to come out fully as that would likely (or fully, in case he shares that same knowledge) confirm 2 of his allies or confirm one Townie and expose one scum.

Based on all of the above my conclusion is that Joe is very likely Town.
About 1 hour and 40 minutes left!
I just noticed something about the rules/mechanics. But discussing rules/mechanics wouldn't help during a running game. It would only distract. So I'll reserve it for post-game. If I forget, someone please remind me that I wanted to discuss something?
Okay, it's now time for Twilight Phase 2! Sorry for the wait, let me prepare the flavor and all a-that.

ZFR: I never wrote "probably". Just said it's an indication.
...
If he knew was fully aware that SPF is at L-1 (and second in line Micro at L-4), then my Town indication reasoning applies: He was adding his name to the wagon, while SPF was lynched anyway.
If he wasn't fully aware of the score, then he could think that SPF and Micro are close together and there is a risk of SPF not being lynched, so he voted SPF to ensure it. ergo my Town indication reasoning no longer applies: He was adding his name to the wagon, but for the reason of lynching SPF, whom he thought may or may not be lynched.
It sounded different to me.
So you're basing that (partially) on what he said he did/didn't notice, which could be a lie?

Microfish_1: what changed from you being willing to vote Carradice/Lift/Dedo to now?
Yes, I could, but if no-one else supports me in said switch, it is pointless.
Was still willing to vote Lift or Dedo, just not Carradice, but I see that wasn't necessary.

But you can still do it, maybe others will join. And noone keeps you from switching back to your former vote, if you want to.
"Time's up!" thus said the rising Queen. "Time to see what you fucktards have been up to."

Among the candidates, nobody stood out. Two people thought Achmed was up to no good. Big deal, drunkard couldn't even look after himself, let alone think of rebellion. Two other people thought the timid Khaled lawyer boy was up to no good. Pffft, they were only ever useful with paperwork, and anything else was a stretch. Then there were…the five. The five who thought Ahmad, the poet, was plotting to get the Queen's head.

She sighed. Disappointment filled her to the brim. Of all the guards, the poet had to be it. The man couldn't even swing a sword out of combat, yet everyone said it was his turn. Well, Queen Hoda had no choice but to make him go entertain the guards down there. She figured it was a good opportunity as any to let prison keepers decide if he should sing them a couple lullabies or whatever. She didn't care. She wasn't pleased.

"Should I, your Highness?" Aybak approached her, knowing what was on her mind.

"Just take the poet down and make sure nothing happens on the way."

"As you wish."

Realizing his fate was sealed, Ahmad quickly approached Aybak, extending both of his arms to him. It was an easy arrest. He went down all the way to the dungeons like a good boy. It wasn't that likely that a mere poet would be part of whatever revolution was up against her, but the inspection should clear all these doubts. And clear doubts, it did.

He carried a wild rose.

Carradice, A.K.A. Ahmad ibn Fadlan, has been imprisoned! He was a Mafia Role Cop.

The jailers were, surprisingly, kind to Ahmed. They didn't beat him up or lash him or any other sort of horrors they regularly exercised. Ahmed was cooperative with them, heck, they even brainstormed ideas for new poems together.

The Queen wasn't so pleased with the wild rose, however.

"The Wild Rose Revolution!?" she groaned. "They have infiltrated our ranks! Those worms will not rest until I'm eaten alive!" she glared at Aybak. "All you're good at is sitting on your ass! If you knew any better, we wouldn't share a room with Wild Rose scum!"

"But, your Highness, we just caugh-"

"This is not an achievement!" she yelled. "Definitely not one YOU deserve any credit for!" Following this remark, he kept his mouth shut.

Everyone in the room was petrified (figuratively). The Queen went back to her throne and sat for a few minutes to collect her breath, which she had run out of.

The Queen got up, breaking the silence of the group. It seemed she calmed down. Khaled wondered from where she got this ability to be furious, then quickly turn calm and back again. It seemed like a switch she flipped whenever she fancied.

"As you can see, my guards, you caught one revolutionary scum among your ranks." She picked up an ornate hand fan from one of the nearby shelves, fanning herself with it. "I doubt Ahmad was the only idiot among you. There must be at least one or two others." She licked her lips, giving Aybak a glance. "I'm sorry habibi, but it's not over yet."

"Aren't there more efficient ways to expose the rats, your Highness?" he hastily said, only to realize a second later of his grave mistake, of questioning Queen Hoda's methods.

"Yes." She calmly replied, much to Aybak's surprise. "But I like this method more. Sorry my dear, but you don't get to decide the rules after you fucked up."

Khaled had no idea why she didn't go along with Aybak's suggestion and gave them all a break. Was her mind broken? Khaled thought dictators like her were smarter – isn't that how they become unchallenged yet legitimized dictators in the first place?

BONK!

The poor lawyer felt incredibly dizzy for a whole of two seconds, before collapsing on the ground. Everyone, with the exception of Hoda, stood around Khaled to see what he had suffered. Or who was the culprit. But it was clear from the onset that he had a lot of people surround him. No, all of the guards. Any of the remaining eight guards were just as likely to have hit him.

"Here we go with this shit again." Hoda got back to her Throne as everyone carried Khaled to the medical quarters. The investigation, of course, came up with the results.

ZFR, A.K.A. Khaled al Adeeb, has been sent to medical care! He was Town Regular.

All of the guards went back up to the Golden Throne. The Queen, despite losing one of her loyal guards, was somehow gleeful. "I always wanted to fire that kid. The dolt would totally fight off an enemy with legal paperwork. How pathetic!"

The hunt for the Wild Rose Revolutionaries continues…

Great game ZFR,

sad to see him go, obviously, but I'm glad I won't have to spend the rest of the game worrying if he'd gone supreme bus on carradice.

I feel very stupid after carradice's flip. It really was as simple as it looked.

who've we got?

Joe
dedo
flocke
lift
yogsloth
vitek

Microfish, you said you understood what carradice meant with the two-meanings-of-'long due'

how's that?

Microfish_1: As far as the following part of 931 goes
avatar
Carradice: I had been trying to avoid having to claim in this game as Town. That way, I might have used the cop checks freely. However, things were looking grim. Even if I waited, it was not going to improve. So, yes, I claimed literally minutes before the end of the game day. It exposed the cop role and therefore it was rendered useless for that game night. Such situations are a big waste. I hoped never to have to do that. But... it seems it was coming.
avatar
Microfish_1: at risk of sounding like a broken record, I find this perfectly comprehensible.
as cop, or any other Town PR, you want to never acknowledge that you have a PR. in this way scum doesn't know you don't have a PR and won't hunt you. in this instance, you don't claim until you are at a) L-1 and B) have tried to logic your way out of L-1 before you pull out the Big Reason.

Odd that this doesn't make sense to you, but I won't accuse you of a Deliberate Misunderstanding...yet.
But I agree that at first reading "long due" and "long overdue" as used in two posts, separated by time, do appear to have been assigned different meanings, or at least ZFR & Joe are trying to make us see it that way.
^ This. Can you explain what you mean here?
avatar
JoeSapphire: Great game ZFR,

sad to see him go, obviously, but I'm glad I won't have to spend the rest of the game worrying if he'd gone supreme bus on carradice.
Did you really consider that?
I just realized the irregular (no pun intended) vanilla role did indeed have some sort of balancing mechanism in the face of the role cop regardless of whether that was the original intention or not.

dedoporno: Did you really consider that?
Yeah, the idea that they got caught in a squabble over the not-reading-pm, which got heated and then neither felt they could back down from occured to me. I almost mentioned at the time and then I thought don't give them an excuse to leave zfr alive if he's town and carradice did flip scum.

So I'm feeling a little bit smug about that.

What do you mean undeserved??
