Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

DrakoPensulo: On steam there are about 1.7% users of XP/Vista. On GOG this is probably higher, say 2%. Long time ago, I read somewhere that GOG had 3 000 000 registered users. 2% of this number is 60 000. I think it is still worth to keep a version of Galaxy for these users...
Actually our share of users on XP+Vista is about 8-9 times smaller than the numbers you're assuming and is decreasing drastically (we've had 3x more XP/Vista users in January 2016 than just before said GOG Galaxy compatibility change). FYI the difference vs your assumptions is most likely due to GOG not carrying free-to-play games popular in many regions where XP has a bigger share compared to rest of the world (such as China).

Also, since Galaxy is optional, do not consider that our entire user base is using it - while for quite some time we have way more users accessing GOG.com via GOG Galaxy than all web browsers combined, it's not 100% of the user base :).

Last but not least and coming to back to your question: as disappointing it may sound, we're not planning to revert this decision. While I'd agree with your sentiment if GOG Galaxy was the only way to download games from GOG.com, it's not the case. Today Galaxy is times faster and more CPU friendly than it was year ago and it is precisely why from the very first day we've said we don't support XP and Vista (it just luckily worked), so that we don't limit the improvements, optimisations or security. And we want to double down on these in the future.
I have just managed to run the newest version of Galaxy 1.1.17.3 on my windows Vista :) Actually, I post this comment from that version of Galaxy.

See the attached picture.

Thanks Destro, it's always nice to get more facts from the horse's mouth about this sort of thing so to speak. Looking forward to the doubling down. :)

Thanks for this elaborated reply. Your decision on non-supporting XP/Vista if fully understandable.
Nevertheless, I have prepared a small patch which makes (at least on my machine) GOG Galaxy 1.1.17.3 to run on Vista here (XP is not supported at this time).

Of course it is not 100%, all the grumpy no client forum users have to use something else ;-)

skeletonbow: There's no way to keep track of the time a program was running that was launched some other way, only the program itself can keep track of it's own time if so programmed. If you want Galaxy time tracking to work - you must launch your games using Galaxy client.
Well, actually there is. Game Backup Monitor does just that. It just checks periodically if the process with name (and/or path) matching the pattern is running. It's probably not the optimal resolution as checks cost time and there is process just lurking there waiting for any known program to run, but it's doable.

The context of the statement is concerning GOG Galaxy, and the games GOG sells here, not the context of some other program serving the same purpose of Galaxy, and not the context in which the question was asked, which is with regard to GOG Galaxy game time tracking. So no, there isn't.

This was the actual original question:

Accoun: Quick Question: does GOG Galaxy count playtime for (already detected) games that weren't launched directly from it?
So my answer - "no", is 100% correct, regardless of what any 3rd party program can or can not do.
Pay attention, there is going to be a quiz later.

I'm sorry, I was posting before morning coffee, while preparing paperwork for a conference. In weak defense - it's imaginable that Galaxy will at some time learn this trick.

But for now it seems I just multiply chaos here. I'm really deeply sorry for that.

Chaos is good it forces change.
Anyone else having issues with their games disappearing from the installed list in the client? Keeps happening to me, even after reinstalling the client and a few of the games. Reinstalled four games, restarted my computer, and two of the games were missing. Plus the client hangs so hard that I can't end its task and have to power down the computer the hard way.
Hey everyone,

I just noticed that galaxy stopped tracking game time for me. The services are running and the firewall doesn’t block anything so there shouldn’t be any reason for it not to work. It’s not a problem, just something that caught my eye and is a mild annoyance ;).

Does anyone have any idea?
I’m using Win7 x64.
Why some games have no support for Galaxy Client on OS X = Not yet available (on main Library screen) = Not compatible (on game page in Galaxy)?

Like Broken Sword 5, Colonization etc. :-( Is it temporary?

They just have not integrated them. And don't worry, it is not only OS X, there are also games that show as not compatible when you are using Win ;-)

Have you modified the game installation folder in any way, or moved it from one location to another? There are certain files Galaxy looks for in each game installation and if they're not there and in tact, it will remove them from the list. In particular the goggame*.info file is a JSON configuration file which must be there and must not have any mistakes in it or it will be rejected due to the strict syntax of JSON and non-forgiving nature of parsers. Normally these files should not be edited, but if they need to be for some reason - always pass them through jsonlint.com or similar to ensure the syntax is valid once done editing. Other mistakes introduced into the files may cause them to be ignored also.

Game time tracking continues to improve over time with new releases but is still buggy and sometimes will not track correctly. If your Internet connection experiences periods of unreliability and happens to be down when Galaxy wants to talk to the servers I believe it may cause problems which result in game time tracking not working properly. Sometimes exiting the client and restarting it will cause the game time to synchronize after a few seconds or minutes.

Overall the feature is still spotty, but improving over time.

Thanks for answering! :)

Hmm, my connection is stable all around the clock, so that shouldn't be it. And gametime never seems to sync anymore. But well, maybe it will work again after an update someday.
