Kate Walker, a young ambitious lawyer from New York, is handed what seems to be a fairly straightforward assignment. Just a quick stopover to handle the sale of an old automaton factory hidden in the alpine valleys, then straight back home to New York. Little did she imagine, when embarking on this task, that her life would be turned upside down.

On her expedition across Europe, traveling from Western Europe to the far reaches of Eastern Russia, she encounters a host of incredible individuals and locations full of extraordinary machines and an amazing atmosphere. In her attempt to track down Hans, the genius inventor - the final key to unlock the secret of Syberia - she will traverse both land and time on a journey that will throw all that she values into question, while the deal she sets out to sign turns into a life-changing experience.

Saviour of Adventure games (by wooglah wooglah)
This game saved the genre all by itself, in the time of dire crisis. Without Syberia in 2002, we would not have 15+ adventures per year now days. Sokal's emotional story of Kate Walker and Automatons touched the hearts of players around the world and renewed the faith in Adventure games once again. Setting focus on the characters and letting them develop the well written story was... full review

Benot Sokal was truly a visionary (by eagle123 eagle123)
Microids was one of the main reasons that I started playing adventure games. I actually played the first Syberia as a game console port and then moved on to Syberia II for the PC and lastly on to Paradise. Sokal hasalways managed to keep his games extremely fresh and innovative. The storyline is very engaging and when you finish this first one, then ending will definitely leave... full review
