Shattered Steel takes place in a desolate future where humanity is on the verge of extinction. The Core Wars, waged by rival factions for natural resources - and ultimately survival - left society in ruins. Massive industrial conglomerates deploy mechanized mercenary armies to maintain a tenuous order. You're a hotshot runner pilot. You've neutralized hundreds of pirates and rival ops on over 22 worlds. Your weapon is the lethal Planet Runner which can navigate any terrain and strike with devastating firepower. You mission is to cleanse the planet from alien forces and restore order.

Save your species as you engage in fast-paced mechanized combat in the single-player campaign containing 50 adrenaline-pounding missions and arm your Planet Runner with blazing firepower - over 25 armaments, including gatling guns, guided missiles, fuel-air mortars and plasma cannons.

Excellent Game (by kaw1138 kaw1138)
This game has a little bit of everything. It has a mixture of light-action gameplay and a fair deal of mech-shooting strategy/customization. My only gripe would be the torso-twist aiming (MechWarrior 4 fan) causing me minor disorientation, but it's not a problem after a short few minutes getting oriented.

BioWare's First Game is Also One of Their Best (by Atheist_Jew Atheist_Jew)
Do you like Mech sims? Do you like Bioware? Do you enjoy deformable terrain and the ability to shoot nuclear missiles at your enemies, the resulting explosion of which creates not only massive craters but sends shockwaves through the ground?

Then you'll want Shattered Steel. You'll also want a sequel, especially considering how the game ends on a "Too Be Continued" screen.

Don't forget this game. A must play for all mech-fans. (by ph4mp573r ph4mp573r)
Many people forget this game.
They forget that it is the first game with a truly destructible environment.
They forget that it influenced all mech-style games which came after.
