These games make up some of the best WWI areal combat you will find anywhere. This is especially true of Red Baron 3D, which has one of the best dynamic campaign generators of any flight sim ever made, in my humble opinion. If you're looking for detailed, fun, exciting and dynamic WWI areal combat, you can barely do better than the Red Baron series. Now all GoG needs to do is add Flying Corps Gold. ^_~
This game is a true classic! Many of hours were spent playing this game as a child. This game is also the reason I know so much about WW1 aircraft history.
Growing up, this was the first game I played for hours on end, forsaking school and homework just to get that thrill of shooting down some of the best aces in WW1. The best thing about this game: the open endedness. You don't have to do the mission, and then land. You can continue flying, creating as much havoc as possible.
A must buy for aviation, simulator, and history fans.
