Conquest of the New World puts you in control of a native civilization or an expeditionary force from one of five European countries. Compete against other players in the hopes of establishing control of the New World during the sixteenth century. Not a game that simulates the actual discovery and colonization of the Americas, Conquest of the New World is generated at the beginning of each game and each New World (and game) is therefore unique.
Your job is to explore the New World, establish thriving colonies, produce and trade goods and eliminate your enemies or defend your claims from your opponents. Each player sets his own objectives for each game. For some players, winning the game may primarily involve finding lots of new landmarks in the New World and establishing many colonies.
The Deluxe Edition adds several new features to the game. Primarily it adds the option to create and play scenarios and customize the world. In addition, nations now have different bonuses, several special resources and discoveries have been added and you can form trade alliances with other nations.

I remember getting the original CotNW (yes the non-Deluxe version) for Christmas one year and had immense fun with the game. Until a few days ago I had no idea that CotNW was still being sold until I created my account on GoG and found this jewel whilst searching for old games (and it's the Deluxe Edition to!) Looks like I'll be spending my weekend either federating Native tribes read more
or declaring my independence from the mother country again thanks to GoG!
If you own the regular edition and are not sure if you should go Deluxe, go Deluxe. One of the features of the D.E is that you can actually read the whole gazette now (thanks to the added arrow buttons and the kind pause until you finish reading), than you could if you had the regular edition. The Deluxe also comes with a scenario editor and if for any reason you need to, you can have the computer take over your turns.
The only minor issue I have is the the intro cinematic is not included. But again it's a minor issue. The rest of the game is great!

I played this when it first came out and this was the first game that had me physically craving to play it. Couldn't function correctly during the day...all I could think about was playing this game. I was disappointed when they cancelled the followup game for it.
5.99 can't beat it.

Paid over $50.00 when this game first came out, but worth every penny. So sweet not having to run a Virtual PC just to play this game anymore. I remember many sleepless nights, and a ticked off ex-wife playing this game! This game is a blast to play with a buddy, hotseat or 2 PCs.
