The Game that should have been DLC
I won't mince words with this release. Ys X is actually a very fantastic game. Please see my review from the original Ys X Nordics Ultimate Edition. This is simply that same game with a few extra mechanics, a couple new characters, a new Dungeon, and some QoL features such as DLSS.
If you have never played the game before, this would be the definitive edition. However, we arrive at the heart of the problem: pricing. This game was announced about a month or two after the initial release of Ys X Nordics in the West already making that release outdated. And here we are today with essentially the same game, a vastly inflated price, and no upgrade path/discount for original owners until after March, making the launch exclusives impossible to obtain if we wait for said discount.
Frankly, I've grown rather tired of this nickel and dime nonsense from Nihon Falcom. I love their games, but they should be deeply ashamed of themselves as a Japanese company. where is the honor?
