Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space is a remastered version of Telltale’s second season of episodic Sam & Max games, lovingly updated by a small team of the original developers. Sam is a six-foot canine detective with a nose for justice. Max is a hyperkinetic rabbity-thing with a taste for mayhem. Together, they’re the Freelance Police—an irreverent comedy duo whose esoteric crime-fighting style has been entertaining comic book and video game fans for more than thirty years.

In this five-episode collection of interconnected cases, Sam & Max are back on the crime beat in a showdown with Santa Claus, a race to subdue a giant volcano, and a face-off with a Eurotrash vampire. And then things get even weirder.

Is paranoid shopkeeper Bosco on to something with his talk of a grand conspiracy? Is diner proprietress Stinky hiding the truth about what happened to her grandfather (also named Stinky)? Will flaky neighbor Sybil Pandemik ever find true love? Did someone say… BIRTHDAY?!

Hop into the DeSoto for a hilarious outing that won IGN’s Adventure Game of the Year award the first time around and now looks and sounds better than ever, with gorgeous HD graphics, overhauled lighting and lip-sync, finessed cinematography, remastered audio, and eight all-new musical tracks featuring live jazz musicians.

Both Sam & Max Save the World and Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space remain great games after all these years. These remasters honor what made the originals special, while simultaneously modernizing the games. Updated graphics, audio, and accessibility features are just a few of the quality-of-life improvements found in these charmingly bizarre yet well-crafted adventures. New players and old fans alike will find plenty to love.

Sam and Max Beyond Space and Time Remastered targets the same audience as the Save the World Remaster. The same developers, the same recipe, the same heroes and references. So, there was little chance for things to go off-track. Still, Sam and Max Beyond Space and Time Remastered is a precious lesson in how a remaster should be put together. Without altering too much the original content, the developers managed to make the game feel relevant and modern. Just as the previous remaster, this one is mandatory for the nostalgic and the point and click fans.

A Great Remaster Of A Classic Game

First off please ignore the unverified buyer reviews that are "most helpful". The top review links to a steam discussion to before the first game even came out, so I don't see how that points to censorship in this. There is no censorship in this game that I could find at least and skunkape clearly stated that they recast boscoe not because the actor was white but because they felt the performance was too close to the "Stereotypical black man". I agree with them, times are different and it is a little cringey hearing the original voice. The new actor Is different but the dialogue is still as funny as ever. These people are foaming at the mouth over 4 lines of dialogue and recast actor for a 10 year old game. I'm sure they're great at parties. Now the actual remaster is fantastic. I love the new music, lighting, and cinematic angles. The addition of widescreen and controller support for couch gaming. And the game itself is fantastic. There's constantly new places to go and people to talk to and so so many hilarious lines of dialogue, I still find stuff I haven't heard after a dozen replays. I love inhabiting this crazy world with these lovable characters and I can't wait to get season 3 remastered and fingers crossed for a hit the road remake or even a whole new entry!

The good of S1 with 90% less controversy

With the remaster of Beyond Time and Space you get everything that was unarguably great about the season 1 remaster. Widescreen support, better lighting, new music, and more. And unlike season 1 you don't get any controversial changes to the dialogue. So if that bugged you then good news. Bosco's voice actor is still different but he's very much settled into his role here and does a great job. Skunkape games has really done a great job with the remaster and I can't wait for season 3!

Excellent Remaster

A highly worthy remaster of one of my favourite adventure games. Improved visuals and lighting, new music, quality of life improvements etc. For those of you who weren't happy with the minor line rewrites for Bosco in the first season, none have been changed this time, though Ogie Banks continues as the new Bosco. Ogie does an great job carrying the spirit of the character in this season, clearly settling into the role. I feel like this is not something worth complaining about - the fact that so many negative reviews are crying about this is so strange to me. (The original Bosco VA, Joey Camen, is still in the game as Jimmy Two-Teeth!) I can't wait to see what Skunkape does with The Devil's Playhouse, since that season was a whole different vibe. I imagine it might take a bit longer to come to fruition, so in the meantime, I'm happy to get back into the games that made me fall in love with the genre. This season is probably my favourite of all the Sam & Max games - there's just so much to enjoy, from Santa Claus, to zombies to time travel and even to hell itself. Such a funny, wonderful game. So yes, highly recommended. Ignore the reactionary 'censorship' weirdos - most of them clearly haven't played this release and have no plans to.

A remastered funny gem

So glad that Beyond Time and Space got remastered! Season 2 is my favorite, and now it’s even better. Sam and Max has always had the special place in my heart - it's quirky and ironic sense of humor is marvelous along with oddball characters making it all a nice satire on our world. It’s wonderfully done, and no content was cut this time around (the script is kept completely the same). The achievements are a little bit more challenging this time around. There's plenty of love put into this remaster by its creators. All artistic choices like camera framing in gameplay, new characters’ models, new material added to cutscenes, lots of little details and even certain effects have been added to enhance the overall experience. They all make the whole experience more cinematic and funny and the world of Sam and Max really breathe! Beyond Time and Space Remastered is definitely the best way to play this game! Newer visuals, an amazing soundtrack with some new tracks and overall, a fun experience of Season Two! Sam and Max - one of the best adventure game duo ever.
