It can be incredibly addictive

Since I own this game (not on GOG, I bought it before it came here) I spent on this game about 2500 hours of gaming time, according to the platform timer. Sure, some of that time have been due to, for example, leaving the game open while I'm working or doing other stuff... but not so much. You care for your colonists, you grow your colony, and then see the AI storytellers throwing the slings and arrows of misfortune to your colony and cope with the aftermath. And when you grow bored of the standard game, there are the mods. So many, many mods. Ranging from the trivial to the ones so extensive to be practically different games, allowing to customize this game to your heart's desire. And they are easy to write and fully supported by the game designers, if you are into that. And when you grow bored with those... they release an expansion, that both expand the basic game, and gives to the modders more tools and options. Honestly, if I had to choose my "game to take on a desert island", this would be it.

Amazing and worth every single penny!

This game is so good. The game is as complicated as you want it to be. It has endless replayability and even when losing you don't feel frustrated. The random events are very fun and sometimes threatening. I've played this game for 50 hours and i bought it three days ago.

Great Game

A great game for anyone that enjoys an in-depth simulation game. Simple but serviceable graphics, good sounds and excellent music and a ton of functions and in game possibilities. Don't be ashamed and the wiki https://rimworldwiki.com/ or just be prepared to have your first few games end in disastrous failures - learning curve is pretty high and the game has a habit of not telling you jack. But once you learn your away around the mechanics you will lose yourself in the colonies you create and the stories and adventures they endure. The game is also mod friendly with mods ranging from utility / quality of life to adding content and total overhauls that can add hours of playtime or replayability if you have beaten it multiple times. Definitely worth a try.

My go-to game

In my mind, this is one of the greatest games ever conceived of. The art style was plucked from Prison Architect (and the developer has attributed it as such.) The music is a fantastic "Firefly" style that will stick in your head and fits the setting perfectly. The amount of mods and the ease of installing them makes this infinitely replayable. But the best part about this game is the stories you'll tell. It's a story generator. And when I say "you'll tell", it's because you'll have things happen to your colony in this game that will make you want to share it with friends and family. There are so many ways to play this game. Each "storyteller" (selected at game start) brings different styles to the game, and within each you have multiple difficulty levels to select from; so you can really tailor it, quite simply, to the kind of experience you're looking for. This is the kind of game you can just boot up and play a new colony for a few hours, enjoy it, go to bed, forget about them. But it's also the kind of game you'll pour a week into each evening, really fine-tuning a good start that you got. If you're like me, you'll even load up a great colony you built two years ago just to visit old friends and reminisce over the battle scars. There are a couple of expansions for this game, and I don't own them. Because I've barely scratched the surface of what the base game (with mods) offers. For instance, you can travel around the world map and do quests, but I never bother. That's not the game I want to play. I like to start a new game every month or so and see how quickly I can get a lone colonist and her dog to a viable level of stability to survive the coming winter. And each biome has its own challenges! It's one thing to make it through a winter in the temperate forest, but the tundra? The ICE CAPS? If this game had a monthly subscription to play, I'd pay it in a heartbeat. Some of the stories have become family jokes or legends. You'll laugh, you'll cry. Buy it
