Return to Monkey Island

Well... where to start? I have played all the old Monkey Island games so I was super excited to play a "remake" or a sequel... I must say... for the first 20 minutes or so I had mixed emotions and the initial excitement kinda wore off - the overall graphics look was in a completely new style, so I wasn't sure what to expect next... But boy I was wrong! The story is an absolute masterpiece... it's engaging and I literally couldn't stop playing because I was curious what's gonna happen next... I can't tell you how many times I laughed at all the jokes in the game... The game is basically full of jokes at every move... The storytelling is absolutely amazing... the way the story is portrayed is fantastic... the cutscenes are fabulous... I was hooked the moment the main story began in the game - after the first 30 minutes or so... Voice acting is triple-A... loved it! Music is fantastic... One of the main reasons I call this game a masterpiece is not only because of the fidelity of all its parts - from story, to graphics, to acting and music... - but mainly because these guys know how to use pattern interrupts... At every step of the story, you kinda think what's gonna happen next and boy... they make sure you get surprised over and over again... This is a true storytelling skill that you just don't see in most games... Overall - I must say this was THE BEST game I played this year. Period... I'm definitely looking forward to a sequel and I hope the guys will actually make one... I bought it for like 18€ and it's cash well spent... worth every penny...

It sounds as it is. And it is what it is A game is measured by the graphic engine and on this game and as others have pointed the sense is Ron tried to cut expenses by delivering a sub par flash graphics that doesn't fit any of the previous monkey game series It's annoying that devs thought it was ok to cut expenses at the cost of delivering the ugliest game on the whole series

This is shocking

It is the artstyle. It is off-putting as heck. I never expected pixel-art or anything like that, but the artstyle they went with is so bad it hurts my eyes. It looks like some generic, low-budget, cartoon network thing, made by some art-student. I hope everyone else likes the game, of course. But this one is not for me.

I like the graphics and the sound. The atmosphere is very well down to the point. It is exceptionally funny, a brilliant trip down memory lane and a work of art all in one. It may not be a hard to master adventure game, but it it may very well ignite a spark of "games can also be like this"-adventure-fun in a new generation of gamers. Very different game compared to today's lot - I like it! And finally something funny indeed.
