Second serving of story DLC
This rounds off the story of Doom Eternal + Old Gods. And does it fairly well.
You get to see some new areas.
You get to be in a large scale battleground instead of being just you against the hordes.
And you get an actual conclusion to the Doom Eternal story.
What's not to like?
Well, all the added BS from part one of The Ancient Gods returns. Along with one or two more enemies with their own brand of BS and invulnerability to everything except a specific weapon.
That said, the levels don't feel that overly tediously long as they did in TAG part 1. And while there are still some encounters where you want to call BS, they seem less heavily present than in TAG part 1.
You don't get the sword back, but you do at least get another weapon to fill its slot.
In all. Not as strong or fun to play as the base game. But still gets a Great from me because it reined in some of the BS from part 1, and actually did give you a conclusion.
If you haven't tired of Doom Eternal, you'll probably find this enjoyable.
If you haven't played the base game, but are considering if you want the bundle. I'd ask myself what my tolerance to tedious shenanigans are. If it is low, consider playing the base first before deciding if you like it enough to get more.
