The ability to mark a game as owned (so I don't accidently buy a game I already have from somewhere else)
As someone already said, this wishlist is a duplicate, there is a similar one with more thank 5k votes (exact name is "Mark games as 'already owned' (without purchase)" Please vote for the one that already has more vote if you want this feature
@ takezodunmer2005: No they haven't. You can place tags on games in your library, but what's the only way to have a game appear on your library? That's right, you have to OWN it!
This request is about us being able to apply one of two tags (owned elsewhere | unwanted ) to games that are specifically NOT in the user's library.
To update the comment section, They have fulfilled this wish!
I have the exact same problem and made the request to GOG a little while back, not realizing they had a community wishlist for features instead of just games. There is a large following here, but I just wanted to point out another entry as well that is a similar request and also has a high vote count. www.gog.com/wishlist/site/mark_games_as_already_owned_without_purchase
If you haven't added your vote there already, please do. GOG doesn't seem to have a way to consolidate entries here, and I'd have to see 500 votes lost as 'duplicate'!! Thank you (just a fellow gamer with the same wish) www.gog.com/wishlist/site/mark_games_as_already_owned_without_purchase
Not sure if my idea should have its own Request or not, but its somewhat similar to this...
Basically, an expansion of the "Wishlist" / "Owned" status, that might include:
"Not-Wanted" and "Owned Elsewhere"
---> Allow one to set what Tag you would like for "Owned/Bought Elsewhere"
E.G. "Steam", "Gamers Gate/GG" etc.
Not-Wanted is like the opposite of Wishlist. When looking through GoG's catalogue - or sales, it is difficult to remember the games that you have already read reviews on, and/or decided against. It would save me (maybe others?) a lot of time if we would be able to mark games that we aren't interested in, and just display that beside the "Heart" in game lists, and on the game-details page.
Thanks.
This is a must for anyone with a large game collection. Yes, I have lists of all the games I have, but when you have hundreds of titles (or more) both new and old, not having to check all your records before a purchase would be pretty sweet. I, for one, do NOT know all the titles of the games that I have, and I would not expect any collector to have this superfluous knowledge carried around in their brain - especially if/when their collection is going through a growth spurt. MOST of the DOS games don't have DRM as we know it today. In addition, since GOG has been offering indie games that are often found in indie bundles that include ~7 games, it would be helpful to be able to mark indie games as owned. I think this is a great idea, and it would help focus my efforts to eventually have most of the GOG catalog... someday ;)
Ah! So I am *not* the only one who thought this was a good idea! (votes).
I would rather buy a game from GOG even though I own a hard copy that I bought years ago that had DRM on it so I could play the game without said DRM and have the game compatible with the latest operating service rather than trying to get a windows '95 system set up in example.
You mean, you don't know which games you already own? Try writing them down.
This reminds me of another requested feature:www.gog.com/en/wishlist/site/mark_games_as_already_owned_without_purchase
When you've got a lot of games, and especially since this site is all about getting old games you might already have (original media) buried somewhere in a closet, you might think you haven't bought a particular one when you had. Plus, with Humble Bundle, you could have gotten a game with the bundle but forgotten it was part of it later.
Hm... how does one "accidentally" buy a game?
