Show users who are completely free of Windows compatibility.
Instead of the badge thing, I would rather wish to see some stats about how many GOG users using this and that OS, to know that are we even now still "just" a minority?
Or even better: GOG should let us to vote on what OS do we really wish to use if it would be "supported".
Dropped windows for good back in January, I only really grab games on Steam but if GoG released a Linux client with proton integrated I'd definitely shop around on there.
Just provide OS badge or write something on pastebin, then copy-paste the link into signature, without dots, http or slashes.
"Show users who are completely free of Windows compatibility."
I hope I understood this correctly. Sorry if I didn't.
Also, wouldn't being forced to wear a badge that displays a users operating system make it easier for hackers to target them, since they already know what they are using? Isn't this a huge security risk to forcibly label people? Additionally, won't this create an automatic bias against certain users just because they use a certain operating system, leading to them being mass-downvoted by people who instantly decided they don't like them just because of the label? I see a huge potential for this to be abused, and I do not like it at all. Please gog, don't allow this.
I don't understand. So if someone only uses linux, they are forced to wear a badge that tells the rest of the internet what operating system they are using? Isn't this a major breach of privacy? What if a user does not want to be labeled, and does not want their operating system or private information shared against their consent?
Linux gaming using wine or whatever is ugly half-way house, and I have just not installed wine at all on my new game rig. I just buy games that are playable in my distro of choice, native. No tux, no bucks.
I would also welcome some settings in profile 'Show me only some platforms' as we have on Steam. More often than not I just scroll through games from newsetter to realize almost everything is 'windows only' garbage.
Dear game developers: no tux no bucks. It’s not all that difficult either, just use Vulkan if you can’t be bothered to properly support Linux and the community will take care of the rest.
As someone who is actively moving away from Windows to Linux, it's rough when a single update can Bork half your library
I haven't used wine for *years* before this year so make that 26 please.
Btw, the game I wanted to play, which I've had to use wine for? It is developed on OGRE. It's just developer's BS which prevents him publishing a Linux build.
And how others supposed to use this information? Why do we need it? Moreover: how many gamers we have who don't have wine? 20? 25?
