Tinybuild has long been criticised for not supporting their releases on GOG. The following thread however reveals that this is not accidental or due to laziness, but actually a matter of policy:
www.gog.com/forum/general/lets_talk_about_tinybuild_and_gog

A publisher that has no intention of ever supporting their games has absolutely no place here. They should be forcibly ejected as soon as feasible.

I'm not in favour of cutting any ties with any publishers especially when most publishes mainly deal with Steam. The fact they talk to GoG at all and are then open to DRM free versions of their software deserves some merit.

As a community, we should demonstrate to those publishers that publishing DRM free on GoG is worth their while.

In fact, even long abandoned titles deemed abandonware resurfacing with a reasonable pricetag on GoG will be worthy of my attention if GoG could establish ties with all the stakeholders and copyright owenrs involved - or even purchase the rights themselves.

While I agree with you that such deliberate tactics are vile, the only way they would be convinced otherwise is if GoG becomes their primary platform or becomes popular enough for them to care.

Besides, you could just get it on Steam and when it is eligible, get it on GoG through GoG Connect. That could be a discussion worth having. Think of the long term repercussions and viability of GoG as platform too.

Almost everyone I know mainly uses Steam. I am the only one who has more games on GoG than anywhere else and just being DRM free is not convincing them to move (but CRITICAL to me).

In the rare cases where the versions of games differ, if the game is worth it, I just get both.

One such game is Civilization 4. Amazing multiplayer on the original discs (including LAN). Almost no multiplayer on GoG due to third partygame service GameSpy disappearing, and on LAN only supporting 2 players rather than 12.... but on Steam GameSpy got replaced by the functionality of the Steam client and so non LAN multiplayer is supported.

Since it is not eligible for GoG connect, I use my original discs with GoG players and Steam with Steam players (which are unfortunately a majority when it comes to multiplayer.

GoG is still missing several games that Steam is ALSO missing and for me, the added value is GoG listening to its users and attempting to get hold of them. That means policies need to be pragmatic in some cases, until such time where they can be more strictly enforced. At least I'd get a legal copy of a game which would finally run nicely on newer hardware.

Whether it's A Final Unity, Birth of the Federation, Away Team, or Rise of Legends, Blue Force, Transarctica or Epic (mission based space action game / flight sim) for example...

Don't think GoG affords to lose any more publishers, which will happen with every tough policy. No Man's Sky had to implement multiplayer separately for GoG and Steam, resulting in necessary delays. Yes, this is a different thing, intentionally ignoring/delaying game content/version parity but it won't matter to big corps. We don't even know how widespread custom it is because of rare circumstances of the info leaking out. All imma saying pinpointing a single publisher is dumb.

I think this is a silly extreme response. GoG should not start harshly punishing publishers. This will only tell other publishers not to deal with GoG because it isn't worth the trouble.

And enforce Fair Patch Policy: if you upload patch somewhere - you upload it on GOG at the same time.

Primey, me lad, I said it before and I'll say it again: Creating wishlist entries for things like this is a fool's errand. The community is somewhat lethargic when it comes to voting, so this entry will have a hell of a time getting over 100 votes, even if it's for a cause that everyone with a brain would immediately rally behind. And in the end, even if you end up with 1000+ votes, gog are just going to ignore your wish if it would inconvenience them too much.

Still, I feel your pain, so +1 from me.

If GOG is able to get them to change their mind then perhaps they should be put on probation. They'd have to keep all their games in sync with the Steam versions with a maximum lag time e.g. a week.
