tikibob Fantastic culmination of the Silent Service series by SSI/Mindscape. Originally produced in 1996. A great re-creation of US submarine war in the Pacific during WWII. Very authentic modeling of sub vs. convoy, warship encounters and career missions. Huge re-playability and also a mission editor to make your own sub encounters. If you can find a copy of the CD, it can still be played in a DOSBox environment. Go to www.subsowespac.org/the-patrol-zone/silent-hunter-windows-vista-dosbox.shtml . How come this is not at the top of the list?

Geraldine Still no sign of SHCE? Come on GOG, an old game like this really deserves a place here and this version of it is the best. It's pretty much impossible to buy this for a reasonable price anymore, anywhere so realistically GOG is my last hope
nefariouscole The original Silent Hunter was a masterpiece. Probably one of the best looking DOS games ever created and it had all the required depth for an enjoyable submarine campaign. While I've enjoyed some of the later sequels in the SH series, they've always been plagued with bugs and other issues which require a massive "Mod Soup" to deal with. The original SH is great right out of the (digital, please?) box.
NickR SHCE would be a great addition to GOG. Especially if it were to include the SubSim tweakpack.
AdmiralBarrett I lucked out and received a copy of this still sealed for my birthday this year. It is an excellent game that should be part of GOG's library. However, considering the fact that Ubisoft owns the franchise and Ubisoft's track record towards the consumer, I doubt that GOG will be able to get the ability to market this game again. :(
wpark This was a brilliant game. I spent many, many hours cruising the western Pacific, always with a feeling of trepidation that a Japanese destroyer would show up unexpectedly and start depth-charging me.
A version that worked on current operating systems would be awesome!

blurayguru Great Game! I think it is the best of the Silent Hunter Series. I have put many many hours into this game. This game is a must have on GOG.

Geraldine This game needs to be on here. SHCE was the first in an awesome series of sub sim games and the Commander's Edition has extra missions too. Please GOG try and get this as it has a big fun factor over the more serious later releases. Also it will serve quite nicely as an introduction to the series should you decide to get the later ones in the future.
