Currently the chat is only about two lines in height which is incredibly small in my view, and makes creating and reading long messages a pain. Thus I think users should be able to resize the chat area or, at a minimum, GOG should add more pre-defined height to the writing area. (Maybe let us use the Enter key to add more height, though downward of course.)
