STAR WARS™: X-Wing Special Edition

Clouded by nostalgia

When this came out, it was THE game to play. Everyone played it and loved it. Gameplay was fresh and it felt like something new. Now it's extremely dated, repetitive, frustrating and annoying. And boring. After you have played through the first couple of missions, this is it. Nothing new to explore in therms of gameplay, weapons, crafts etc. Everything will just be different in the therms of which order to do things. And oh boy you need to things in the correct order this game wants you to! After a while it boils down to a teeth excactly what ships to attack at a certain momemt or else you will fail the mission; A Star Destroyed deploying Tie Bombers extremely close to whatever you need to defend and you only have seconds to shoot them down before they launch torpedoes at you. Every mission will play the same since everything is 100 % scripted. The missions are also extremely stupid: "We have knowledge of plans of a Death Star in a straned blue wing. SUPER importent we get this intel" = So they just send you and an A wing to defend it while wait for rescue? While you get assualted by 100 tie fighters and star destroyers? Many missions are like this. And since the enemy is horrible to aim your wingmen is pretty much useless after a mission they might shoot down 1 or 2 enemies while you shoot down 50. So you are not this small cog in a big machine, you are THE ONE... the CHOSEN ONE. Also this game implements crafts that are not part of the star wars universe making it kill the star wars immersion for me: The Tau Gunboats as an example: An ugly looking tank with many wings sticking out. It looks more like a Stealh Fighter that belongs on planet earth. Who thought this was a good idea? Who knows...

Cyberpunk 2077

Strange times

...we live in. How can one of the most shitty games ever made be the most sold and most praised? Money corrupts people.

Crusader: No Remorse™

They don't make games like this anymore

This is one of my favorite action games of all time. If I want my 90's sci-fi action fix I install this and Flashback. You feel like a 90's action anti-hero running through halls, traps while blowing enemies into smithereens. It also have cheesy FMV movies which I love which gives the game a human touch and a reason to keep playing. Tight controls, good shooting mechanics and feelings = you can destroy anything in a room almost. You can control a mech too!

Blade of Darkness

Best sword fighting game ever!

I remember first playing this in 2001. What first amazed me was the graphics = real time shadows casting from real light sources and water that looked real and cast reflection. The havoc physics when destroying barrels and throwing objects around was also fun. But the best part: The Dismemberment! You can cut off limbs, heads, divide enemies in two. All with great sword combos. You learn more and new combos as you level up too. You can play as 4 characters. I personally like the Barbarian since it makes it a bit more tactical when it comes to two-hand sword fighting: You must dodge and plan your attack very wisely. Every map looks totally different from each other and are huge with lots of secrets. Pay close attention to your surroundings. The atmosphere is like that of Conan The Barbarian movie. I am not sure if this new version supports the "Blade of light" mod (better graphics) or dismemberment mod. But I would urge you to check those out on moddb.com since it makes the game way better

Mafia II (Classic)

More annoying and frustrating than fun

I was a huge fan of the first Mafia game. It was ahead of it's time in many areas: Cars flashing with their lights if you drive towards them in the wrong lane. You could even fill your car with gas! The driving felt realistic with good physics. The shooting felt real and grounded. But most important: The story and characters were so good and interesting you just had to keep playing to see where it was headed. And the music... amazing. Then came Mafia 2. Take everything that was good in Mafia 1 and throw it out the window, and you have Mafia 2: Annoying cartoonish characters. I hated Vito, he is just a cold boring chad character with mary sue qualities (he never does or say anything wrong). Makes you feel detached from him. The story is also clumsy told and chaotic and after a few hours of playing I felt I had no urge to keep playing due the boring missions. Lot of the missions feels the same. The only good thing it has is awesome graphics and good driving physics (if you drive on simulation). The most annoying thing is the wanted system and stupid A.I. It feels they wanted to copy GTA 4 more than creating their own game.

Mad Max

A great surprise!

One of the best games I ever played. It got everything: Sanbox, action, cars, upgrades, explosions, excellent fighting, superb graphics! If you love the Mad Max movies, this is also a must buy

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin + Reborn

This is not F.E.A.R

It feels like a completely different type of shooter. It just feels generic. Lacks the original atmosphere. Monolith really knew how to nail that F.E.A.R atmosphere and gameplay

F.E.A.R. Platinum

Worth it for F.E.A.R alone

FEAR 1 was and still is an amazing shooter. Supert shooting effects and feeling, with slow motion and smart A.I. The sequels are not that great. But still worth a playthrough

Prey: Digital Deluxe Edition

Better than Half-Life 2 / System Shock 2

I enjoyed this more than Half-Life 2 and System Shock 2. It got so much going for it: Gameplay, horror, combat, immersion, suprises. Even the intro will give you a "wow" experience. And just wait for the ending

VirtuaVerse

Boring and feels half assed

I don't like the pixel art and the animations. The whole thing feels cheap. Also the puzzles are way too easy and linear. I don't think I have played a good point & click adventure since late 90's. Coming from Full Throttle, Beneath A steel sky, Day of The tentacle all these low budget point and click games we have gotten the last years feels like garbage in comparison.
