Psychonauts 1 was great. I mean, really great. I hardly ever died in the game, untill the end scenes in the circus. I recently bought Psychonauts 2 for a real low price. Luckily, because I would have regretted forking out 59 euro RRP for this game. The controls make no sense, too many psi-powers to control at once. Also, I died about 300 times in the first "dental" levels. Why dying? Why? WHY!!!!!! I'm still getting the hang of trying to control Ras and use his power, but the levels let you die when you miss a jump or take too much time killing a foe.. Why? WHY????? One of the great things in Psy 1 was that you could explore the environment and choose if you wanted to upgrade first, get to know the controls etc. Now I'm forced to to difficult platform jumps and battles when I'm totally not ready for it. Why do developer always change games in a sequel? I just wanted Psy 1, with a new story, better graphics etc. Not an impossible 3D platformer.
I played Doom 3 in 2005 or 2006. I actually played the entire Doom franchise. When I saw the video's of this mod, I was in awe: compared to Doom 3 the graphics look like a game from 5 to 10 years old. Ok, the enemies are sometimes a bit chunky and the textures vary from fuzzy to very sharp. But the atmosphere, the lightning, the smart use of neon colours. Respect to the developers of this mod! Of course, the story is also very well written and it is lovely playing all episodes. On a critical note: sometimes the fights are ridiculous, even on the easiest level. And some puzzles, like the silos, are over-engineered and they are way too complex for, what is essentially, an FPS shooter. Can't wait until episode 4!
I played this game back in 2004 or 2005, on hardware which was too slow. But still, it was great. Some time ago I got Doom 3 BFG and Phobos for free and decided to play them again. TYhe BFG edition is from 2012 and I think evebn in 2025 it is still a great looking and very playable game. I found two annoyances: no subs and the game is always on front so no switching to another application while playing.
The game is still amazing, after all these years. Great story, nice graphics and a real good DLC story. Unfortunately this games crashes around every 10 minutes of gameplay, especially when fighting. Weird, because its predecessor, Bioshock Remastered, never crashed on my machine. But hey, just use F11 (quicksave) frequently, and you'll be fine. Despite all the crashing, this game was wortth every penny of the €5,- I payes in the holiday sale.
I got BioShock Remastered during the holiday sales for $5, which is a fair price. $20 is way overpriced! Back in 2007, it was a trendsetting game with awesome graphics, surround sound and a story worthy of a movie. Now, a decade later, with improved graphics and playing it in UW-UHD (3440x1440), it can still stand up to the competition. In many review I read that the game crashes a lot, but I only had one crash on eight hours of playing. And now, on to BS 2, which I also got for $5 :)
