Mafia 2 is all time classic, one of the best games ever. Remaster increased download size from 12gb to 43gb for no clear visual upgrade, visual upgrade you can only see in side by side comparison. Also several small bugs. Remaster got 2 stars only because Mafia 2 is such a great game, but totally not needed.
I love strategy and love fast paced shooters. Weird combo but like it. So for example I play Original Sin 2, Risk of Rain 2, Borderlands 3, CoD games. And this one feels lot like CoD game with its gunplay. Shooting and fighting in this game is sooooo satisfying, Its only reason that elevates this game from good game to MASTERPIECE. I completed game for 4-5 times from its release, every few years. SHORT LIST Is it great gunplay? BIG YES!!! Is it scary? First hour maybe, a bit, after that not scary but intriguing. Good story? I would say yes, I like it, if i completed it few times. Cool abilities? Yes and no, cool at first but just gimmicks, with few exceptions like time bubble where you shoot 30 bullets and stand to side to see how they destroy enemy face when bubble collapses. Is it long? Its perfect size, doesnt drag out, I would like it to last longert but I know it would destroy its narative and drag game out. In 2021? I played it recently and works fine on Windows 10, 1080p, with dual monitor setup. Graphics are fine i really dont mind them but switching from new shooters it might feel strange at first. Or just dont mind cause of nostalgia. Anyway I like graphics and Am guy that cares about graphics. WORTH?! Full price is 27$, Its activision and activision is IMO biggest bullshit company. Hate them more than EA or Ubisoft. I would say 27$ is worth it, but its old game and activision is money grab so I would feel cheated. However its 5$ now on sale and I would say DEFINITIVE BIG YES! Get this game and experience this MASTERPIECE!
Okay, giving 5 stars cause like the game type, for others probably 4 stars but still great game TLDR; pros: -Flashy gunplay, numbers flying around -Great sense of action -Aged well cons: -Bit short -Not great graphics (but are) -minor nuissances Okay so game overall is great. I like shooters that let you go guns blazing, killing stuff numbers flying, like doom style game or so. Even tho sometimes the flying stuff can block vision, note this happened to me like 2 times in whole story. Graphics aged well since its comic style graphics but also cause of that many times I could not see enemies, like where they were shooting from or stuff, bad lighting also adds to this, like very very high contrast in game where everything is outlined black. So looks fine but has those nuissances. Gunplay is fun and sounds give kick to weapons, combined with focus you feel like fastest hand in the west shooting 6 guys with 6 bullets and 6 headshots in 0.2 seconds. So feel is awesome but problem I have with gunplay is, well for me anyways, that all 3 types of pistols feel same (didnt test enough) and worst of all shotgun feels USELESS, it has range of 2m while fights are usually 5m+ and even if they are like 2cm from you, you can still miss since aim down sight is SO SO BAD on shotgun and misguiding and even than shotgun headshot from point blank can sometimes not kill enemy and you have to reload afer every 2 shots while rifle can easily deal 12 headshots on long and close range and reloads in same time, rifle is by far the best weapon and only rivaled by dual wielding but there is problem lack of ammo consumption. So very very good and satisfying but not much diversity. Lots of people hate repetition of duels but for me they were nice, through story you have like 10 of those duels and was nice from usual gameplay. Story is nice and interesting for me at least with some real life lore. With all problems game is probably 4 stars but i like those kind of shooters so 5 stars. RECOMMEND
TL;DR Its awesome in every aspect of shooter and you should buy it! So I bought New order and Old blood recently to play since it was on discount and I recently replayed Return to castle wolfenstein. The new order was complete shit and I would not recommend it to anyone. It has its own story which is complete shit, bla bla bla abd game. The old blood took what is good in new order, which is EXCELLENT gunplay and removed all the bad stuff like cutscenes, scripted events and story. There are scripted events but very little. There is story but in just right amount, it explains why you do this and that is perfectly fine. So why old blood is good is that they put AMAZING gunplay of new wolfenstein games and let you shoot, guns are much better here than in new order and make much more sense, they dont remove your weapons every 10 minutes but you get to keep them and use whatever you want and did i mention they let you shoot enemies and dont stop the fun and action just to show 2 minutes cutscene how they "found new awesome weapon of destruction" that nobody cares about. Also game in last third introduces ZOMBIES which is AWESOME feel and return to old games while new order uses robots which are bad for me. So game is amazing, you go, you shoot, you kill, kick of weapons and feel is amazing. So what is bad in this game? Honestly very little, texture "buffering" in new order which i didnt notice here. 1 or 2 sections were a bit annoying like killing 2 ubersoldiers which are animated so you cant move yet enemies can shoot you and kill but i passed in 10th try i think. Second "bad" thing is that game feels a bit short? Probably because its great fun so you want more yet if it was extended it may become tedious, maybe? Overall I think it took me 5 hours to beat the game. There are challanges at end where you can speed run some sections of levels and get best score but to me it seems boring. Rating: BUY! PLAY! 5 stars (new order: got low 3 only because of gunplay).
TLDR: Pros: -Great gunplay -Runs well -Graphics are good Cons: -Terrible pace -BOOOOOOORING missions -Story is meh (read why) -Textures are shit So game is good, gunplay is phenomenal, feel of the guns, kick, sound is ok, but overall gunplay is best part of the game. Graphics are okay but game is from 2014 (now is 2020) looks nice. Game runs smoothly on my 2014 hardware (r9 280x, i5-4460) so that part is well done. Dont see much more positive sides. So for bad things. When you turn your head textures become blurry and everything becomes like "glowing" indicating you can pick it up but you cant and looks bad, thats engine problem and its VERY ANNOYING. Textures are ok but still often look terrible by any standards. Story is shit, classic nazi shit, ultimate technology, get some of tech, win and I would not have any problem with it if it wasnt so heavily pushed down my throat, there is SO MANY CUTSCENES!!! WHY! Yeah, atmosphere is okay in sense its world of nazis and nice alternate reality but other than that story is garbage. So many times you find nazis, you shoot, its so much fun and then comes cutscene with some story you dont care about, maybe some more shooting but only enough to interest you BAM CUTSCENE, back to base then STUPIUD STUPID PART where you walk in base to collect 3 items????? WHY!!!!!???? bring those items, cutscene about stupid story, start new mission and guess what, remember cool double barrel you had last mission? NO MORE! you start with knife and gun, mid mission you find gun and shoot. If game was short cutscene, mission of shooting some words spoken mid mission through radio or something, shoot shoot shoot, cutscene about story and then new mission with same guns!? Game would get 5/5 even with texture problems. In short game has great foundation and gameplay destroyed by story and cutscens and stupid safe house missions which completely destroyed the pace of the game. Giving it 3/5 is overrating but gunplay is good.
TL;DR PROS: -Great graphics -Good feel -Good UI -Gameplay is fun -Seen interesting tactics -Better than Hearthstone -Well every game aspect is + for me must say CONS: -Opening kregs involves spamming alt+F4 -10 minutes opening 3 kregs -DISCONNECTED REVIEW: Will just explain what i wrote above. Game overall is great. Graphics are great and you can have animated version of card, everything has its tone and well... great graphics. UI is big factor to me and it is great but clunky like cant click while other thing is being clicked or something? It has that clunky feel. Audio great. Every other aspect is great. Gameplay is good also but cant say much since iam not TCG player, I can say I hate hearthstone and I like Gwent. Only other TCG game i enjoyed playing was Migh and Magic TCG long ago. So I would rate game 4.5-4.7? SO WHATS BAD: I would say my internet but FPS games work fine, connection tests like speed, ping and else are fine so its up to the game. So lets start with mild stuff like starting match (NOTE: This all happened in about 3-4 hours of game time so you get sense of timeframe). Match works fine but connecting to match SOMETIMES gets you to opening screen and disconnects you, not big hussle but annoying. Loading screen however IS. Know how GTA lets you wander whole county?/city? without loading? Well here every click needs loading. Deck builder? loading, Shop? loading, Quests? loading Rewards? loading, its not long (1-4 seconds) but its annoying since you do that a lot, its really annoying, game takes 1GB ram and I have 16, so taking 2 more for no loading times would be GREAT. Worst game offense? OPENING KREGS TAKE AGES. You press open, take few seconds, you choose which card you want to take, gets stuck, you have to alt+F4, get back in game. Sometimes doesnt accept choice so open keg agin (same cards) and whole process again. 10 minutes to open 3 kegs. Iam very close to abandoning game and these 3 stars are generous. Game infuriates!
TL;DR Bad graphics, sound is not bad but something good, basically old game now BUT OH GOD ITS FUN! So basically graphics are outdated, it looks like 2005 game (released 2010), sound is like OK music not quantity but cant say its bad. and that's bad parts that are visible on first sight. Youre thrown in world where merchant gets you in his house and says if you would like to save his daughter (tutorial) learning you how to recruit and fight and thats it. No story or any other help at all. I started playing this game in 2008 (with Mount & Blade) and i discovered a lot because i didnt have a lot of games so i got into it but today with so many games most people go away from it because you have so much to learn. You need to learn characters, locations, mechanics and everything. Now I explained some backstory, about game, combat is maybe the best, EVER! and very simple. You go around and start low having 5-6 man fighting bandits, later you build more, join army and at end either help one of kings conquer all, help successor take throne or make new kingdom but in reality you can do whatever you want, that it its best part where you decide what you want to be and downside because you have to decide what you want to be (for me big plus). Now basic game is fun and like it so I use Floris mod which is vanilla EXPANDED and makes game 10 times better, but if you want conversion and big addition of realism then i recommend Brytenwelda mod (continued as expansion Viking Conquest which is worse IMO). Have fun!
I played a bit of XCOM and i must say that game is buggy as fuck, but even if you go beyond bugs I still didnt find joy in it and I think its because of sci-fi theme. This game in my opinion is awesome. It has all things to beat XCOM and be a masterpiece but somehow developers found way to fuck it up. PROS: -So what i like about game is first of all visuals, Its not Battlefield 1 level but everything looks so neat and fits together, it really gives good feel. What feels weird is very stiff and basic animations but not big problem. Bigger budget would probably fixed those issues -Game mechanics and combat are very good, excellent. Very simple as cover, half cover, luck system is maybe weird but not something as good or bad just weird. It just works. -Story for me is good, yeah its classic like really cliche story but they made it interesting, When I figured who is masked man i was BLOWN AWAY! But for me they managed to destroy that feel also by reviving me and making me do some carnage. And from big + to small tiny + CONS: -This game is devided in 7-9 scenarios which last about 1-3 hours each. Each has unique minigame, like first one you buy mines, mine for gold, get upgrades, I WAS ENJOYING IT! IT WAS AWESOME. You get gear like weapons, armor and trinkets. You build your characters. Game really immerses you in story and game and THEN you finish scenario, it destroys everything and says play another scenario from scratch. Completely destroying fun. Its true that current concept would soon be boring but all it needs is some RPG depth. -It has neat ideas like shadow reveals enemies but that doesnt require your eyes it just lets you select him as target. I got game for free and I think this sale of 5€ is more than worth it but 20€ is too much. 10-15€ is reasonable price. If they made first scenario sandbox or bigger with RPG progression and depth this could be BIG GAME! My rate of 4 stars is maybe because what it could become and i really hope it does!
I really loved Original Sin and was eager to play this one. After completing whole game and playing a bit more (100hours) I can say 100% that this is THE BEST GAME OF 2017, but I have to mention, even tho game improved also many things were worse than in original. First of all when you start game you notice UI, the interface in combat, menu, talking, general UI and its handling is MUCH better giving the game, fresh, new, nice and quality look which for me is really important. 10/10 Graphics are not BIG improvement but i really like this new one, old had really hard and weird shadows which made models look weird, this on other hand fixes this and gives game really nice look. You cant say graphics are top quality but they are above good and really nothing bad to say about it, 10/10. Sound is improvement imo also, voices are sounding bit better and music is bit more noticeable but i dont even pay attention to music much even tho game threw nice soundtrack at me. 10/10. Gameplay is really where a lot of stuff is fixed and i really love but i think much more is ruined. First of all to get the elephant out of the room, SOURCE! POINTS!! Who on the hell thought to limit combat by source points, its annoying feature where you got up to 3 points in act 2 to use spells which are "stronger" but in many cases are not and if they are they cost much more SP than you would like making them "once per battle" (or few battles) ability. BIG MINUS HERE!! Now attribute points and skill points, they are not bad but IMO it was much better done in first game where you could put them in "civil points" any level but you would miss out on increasing your combat power and so on making YOU CHOOSE how to advance your character, same with talents, overall simplified part of game (like many other parts) and in the end kind of risk free as you can go to lady vengence and reset character any time so if you make a mistake it is no big deal. What I would like is that they made you could revert your LAST LEVEL upgrades because i could make mistake accidentally but in long run you have to plan out. Spells. Again mixed. I like chameleon spell, making summoner class as new rather than mixed with other classes, this makes characters able to be much more diverse taking many spells from many branches BUT this is a bit too much considering other parts of whole skill system. Memory system might be still new to me even after 100 hours BUT i still feel its wrong and kind of like old better even tho its not bad, also ranger can take
Only one word describe this game, Masterpiece. This game is really one of my all-time favourite. I found it here on gog.com recently (had it on cd before but cd got lost) so i decided to buy it and *crash* replay it all over again. Game is really wonderful at storytelling, you decide course of the story, yes its choosing pattern like 1,2,5,4,3 or 4,3,1,5,3, at end you complete all of them regardless of *crash* which you complete first but somehow it really gives you feel you control whole course *crash* of story. Combat is really another great aspect of game, its not like super fast action focused nor its slow turn-based combat *crash*, you have pause option at anytime to pause combat and tell everyone what to do or just adjust AI actions *crash* to your liking (example: Companion: if hero HP < 50%: cast Heal) and with right tactics options you can play your hero without pause *crash* button and companions do their job. Ambient is really one of best *crash* music is most of the time unnoticeable but actually brings so much to atmosphere, they really hit *crash* the region with music and blends so nicely. For RPG/ambient element you have companions *crash* random chat that triggers in game when you are walking or *crash* reach some point of significance and that chat changes based on *crash* who is in your party (one who are, are talking obviously) and big impact on talk is also your relationship between them *crash*. Example: I was very close with Morrigan (obviously) but you start with higher reputation with Alistair (names dont spoil game if you dont know who they are), when Morrigans *crash* reputation was higher than Alistairs *crash* Morrigan was mocking Alistair how she stole Warden from *crash* from him. So why *crash* 4* for gog.com release? CRASHES! I noticed number of crashes increase as you get near the end of game (as is in this text), and i think it probably has to do something with fireball spells and chain lightning, but i dont remember crashes on my first playthrough! Final verdict BUY IT!
