You can clearly see that this game was not a big budget production, but it has the right spirit. Good humor, solid riddles, everything a good classic point and click adventure needs. If you already own most classics already, make sure you get this little jewel as well. It fits right in.

In short: It's a good remake. The adaptation of the scenes for widescreen monitors has gone well, it runs smooth and - other than the original - it won't change the desktop resolution, which is always a pain in the a** I am not a big fan of one click interfaces, I tend to prefer to have the choice between "look", "pick up" and "use" at least. But these days with tablets and mobile phones becoming more and more popular for games like this, I guess you have to do it that way. It works well enough however, doesn't really dumb down the gameplay. The game itself is as good as ever, sometimes Kathy tries a bit too hard to be the "lost case" as she puts it, but overall the characters are well designed, the puzzles not all too fancy. I was thinking to give 5 stars, but as much as I love the game, I have other favorites. Oh ... and Kathy can now afford different bikes :)

Nice little point and click adventure. The demo has only very basic riddles and is rather short, so I can't say much about the game itself. The controls are ok, you switch between the 4 basic commands by right clicking, hotspots can be highlighted. When using the hand-icon I would have expected the pointer location around the index finger however instead of the center of the hand. I would not have noticed at all if it wasn's for that one little piece of paper which has to be collected. All the other things to click were rather large. I am not sure what the "lick" option is used for. So far it has only been good for funny comments. Maybe later in the game it will have some use. The humor is mostly right on the spot, there are a lot of comments about claws and - other than in similar games - for the characters it's perfectly normal to be cats, there are no silly out of place jokes about cats dressing or behaving like humans do. I'm looking forward to the full version.

I loved Legends and when Underworld came out I was looking forward to play it. It's basically more of the same we already knew before, with a bit more complex level design. I loved it but at some point I just stoped playing for some reason I don't remember and never touched it again. I guess now it's a good time to finish it.

There were many complaints about this reboot / redesign back in the days, that it would differ too much from it's predecessors, a lot of people missed exploring endless caves and so on. I however loved it, this is my favourite Tomb Raider title up to this day, I am glad it finally made it's way here. The controls work fine, the riddles and the level design are simpler than in some of the earlier games. It's more straight forward than some of it's predecessors, focuses more on the story. This is the "old" Lara Croft at her best, before she was redesigned completely to match the modern young unexperienced, sensible, vulnerable but still invincible female hero archetype we know from several movies. I like the new games as well, but their Lara is not as unique as the old one was. This Lara doesn't mess around. If she's angry, you better stay out of her sight. The script for this game was great.

I had a good time when I played this game back then on another platform that we don't want to mention here. The script could use some improvement, but the gameplay is just right. I guess I give it another go. For the current introduction price it's a must-buy. Now let's just hope we get the two successors as well.

I just wanted to take a quick look at it for old times sake ... now I am playing fulltime again. Dammit! This game is one of the best adventures in long list of point and click adventures I have played (and of course also compared to modern direct control 3d adventures). The only bad thing about it is the time when it came out. The 3D models are crude, the framerate of the 2d ingame animations (subway train) way too low. Also running it natively can be a real challenge on a modern computer. Don't even try that, run in it ScummVM (ResidualVM and ScummVM have been merged into one program). Just don't change the resolution while a video is playing and stick to either fullscreen or window. Apart from some minor details (the interface could use a few tweaks) this can easily compare with the best adventures out there. If you can live with doing a few clicks more than in other games, this is a must have.

Before this game I mostly played LucasArts Adventures, also some Larry episodes and some classics like Future Wars. This was a whole new experience, a much more mature kind of storytelling. The plot could have easily made it into a movie as well. It has not the best guidance system, sometimes it's hard to find that last thing to do before the next day can start. But apart from that it's as classic as they come. The brilliand voice acting of Tim Curry, Mark Hamill, Leah Remini and Michael Dorn guides the player through a story of curses, german castles, family history and of course love. Gabriel turns oud to be the last descendent of a family once called "Ritter", who's destiny is to fight evil wherever they find it. As several murders are commited in New Orleans by what seems to be a Voodoo cult, destiny calls out to Gabriel who has no knowledge of his family history, guiding him on a path to become the next Shadow Hunter or - as they were called in Germany - Schattenjäger. Jane Jensseen also released the book as a novel, which sadly is very badly written and reads like a walkthrough for the game.
