Project Warlock II

Instant Classic

I loved the first game. Where that was akin to Wolfenstein 3D, this is more like Doom 2016. I love the sensory overload of all the pickups and different meters. It's not for everyone of course, but it's a good bit stimulating for me lol. The gameplay loop gets me in the zone. True boomer shooter flow state gaming.

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind GOTY Edition

Alltime Fav

This is one of those games I bounced off time and time again, until I found time to play it. During COVID lockdown, I finally had the time to sink my teeth into this immense masterpiece. It's truly a generation defining game and the reason for Bethesdas continued success. I can't believe it took me so long to get it. But once you get past the old time design, it becomes a masterpiece of the kill, loot, repeat gameplay loop.

Control Ultimate Edition

First Gen RT Darling

This game was a peek into what was possible with next gen rendering in 2019. It more than justified my purchase of a 2080S lol

Fallout: London

Fantastically Immersive

This mod is quickly becoming one of the only total conversions that I have had the desire to complete. The world building is top notch and the set pieces are equally stunning. The environments are more detailed than that of vanilla Fallout 4. I did have technical issues starting out, even after the huge update that just launched in October. I fixed the issues that are most prevalent in the negative reviews as follows. Constant crashing (especially after the train ride in the prologue): Switch the game to borderless fullscreen from the OG Fallout 4 launcher. This is under the Fallout 4 GOTY menu in GoG Galaxy Insane load times: Download this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/44798?tab=files and install the second option that is labelled for FOLON. You can edit the INI file to your liking, especially useful if you have high refresh rate monitor.

Mars: War Logs

Flawed Fun

This game reminded me of a time when there were more budget titles like it. The gameplay is fun all things considered. Looting, upgrading, and levelling up make the experience feel like more than button mashing. The combat has impact even if it feels a bit floaty at times (due to the cheap animations). Story wise, it's a schlocky romp like you would expect out of something like this. It's not terrible, perfectly serviceable if you ask me. The voice acting is like half a notch above New Vegas. And the dialogue sounds human, unlike a lot of genuinely bad unpolished games. Though the delivery leaves a lot to be desired some of the time. It doesn't get in the way of the experience in my opinion. There are odds and ends where the cracks show. Nothing totally glitchy, but unpolished. All in all this is a tight little RPG with engaing gameplay that is well worth the dollar I paid for it. It has honestly given me perspective, in the sense that there are fun "3/5" games out there.

Shadow Warrior 2

Path of Borderlands

I love this game. Got it for free so my expectations were low. It took me awhile to get around to sitting down and playing this gem, but here we are. Quarantines work wonders on backlogs, right? Well onto the review. First up, the gunplay. It's phenominal. Very meaty and you get a ton of feedback from how much destruction there is. Really, there's no way to describe the chaos that comes with playing on high difficulties with guns that are specced out to work well. It turns into one giant explosion of blood, guts, and barrels. Graphically, its alright. Not the greatest. But let me tell you, in 4k the assets really shine. When I got the game as a gift, it was when I had a pc that ran at 1080p. That was a blurry mess, not gonna lie. But with more resolution to work with this game stands on its own two feet. It's sharp and stylized. Good to look at if anything. I look foward to playing through the rest of the content and can't see this getting old very quick.. I'm tempted to pay for the game anyways!

Vampyr

Love it! Superb combat.

This game is a bit of a slog to get through in the first bit but definitely opens up around level 10. Once you have some abilities and points invested in upgrading your stats, the combat becomes fluid. With a higher stamina you can attack more and that makes things go a lot smoother than the beginning, where you're lucky to swing 3 times and still be able to dodge. Graphics are great. I love the art style. Everything has a painted look and I don't even care if that's due to budget issues.
