Girl Genius: Adventures In Castle Heterodyne

Best steampunk game ever!

One thing is a bit odd, as you collect lore for the story, it's for the comic books, it doesn't really match the game. A bit of an odd decision, but there it is. Other than that, the game is 120% pure Girl Genius mayhem! I love it!

Europa Universalis IV: Starter Edition (2024)

Most Celebrated..?!

I don't think a game I've never even heard qualifies as the "Most celebrated historical strategy game of all time". I can name a dozen series of history based games, starting with Sid Meyer's Civilization. This one isn't even on the list. Going by the above review regarding the absolute travesty of historical accuracy.. I'm going to say that it's either woke crapola, or the devs just don't give a crap, and they're too busy churning out DLC to rake in cash, to care if the gameplay makes any sense.

Dystopika

Required Cyberpunk asset!

If you've seen videos or images advertising Cyberpunk stuff lately.. you've probably already seen examples of what Dystopika can do. Full disclosure, I'm one of it's greatest supporters. I insisted on paying the author cash for the game, because 'F' Steam, I got it on Steam anyway, and now I'm getting it here (Instant Purchase). I support the author on Ko-Fi, I belong to his Discord, I've donated cyberpunk assets for him to use in Unity, and I've posted assets for everybody to use within the game on the Discord. (DO join the Discord, and look for the assets section and for the mods section.) Dystopika isn't much of a "game", persay, although partway through the Tutorial and can just switch over to unlocking achievements, which unlocks new abilities and assets to use within Dystopika. (HINT: build every type and style, and sooner or later you'll unlock all of the achievements.) Dystopika is more of a live action god-game, where you create your own cyberpunk city, and watch the show. You can zoom in and fly around all over the place, as well as set up the camera to do specific flyby's and record videos. As I just mentioned, you can even import your own assets and mods. You can change some of the environmental settings as well. The game is still in development as well, in the future, the dev intends to expand the types of neighborhoods available in the game, and add other abilities. It is a complete "game" right now though, it's 100% operational, and 100% of its functionality works, 100%. :) As I said, if you're in to cyberpunk, you've probably already seen images or videos where various creators/companies have used it to promote their stuff. It's already truly stunning, and it's just going to get better. It's a labor of love for the author, and it really shows. If you love cyberpunk, or city builders, or relaxing games where you can just chill and build.. DON'T miss this one! It's worth every penny, 10 times over!

Whale Rock All Games Bundle

"Early Access", the six year version

Abandoned trashware that was never finished. It makes me so mad to see all of these unfinished cyberpunk games that could have been something. Hard pass, peeps. In fact, we ought to petition GoG to keep this crapware off of the shelves, here!

State of Mind

Yes, please.

It's a cyberpunk thriller-mystery by Daedalic Entertainment. What else is there to know? If you like e-novels, and you like cyberpunk, shut-up and play it. :) (Watch for Harvey's cameo during the end-scene.) :D

Cyber Complex

High Hopes, shattered

The second I saw this game, I thought it looked like a cool Cyberpunk Matrix style thing, like maybe where the hacker would be fighting a firewall security suite or something. I REALLY want to give it more stars, but I can't. I just can't recommend it, as is. To be blunt, the game is too hard. You start out with one little blue guy, and you have to spend a certain amount of time on each square to turn all four sides blue, but doing so drains all of your power, then you die. So while you're sitting on this one square, like a chicken trying to hatch it's eggs. the bad guy is busy spitting out drones that do the same thing you do (except they turn the squares red in half the time), but he's spitting out one drone per second. So, yeah. By the base rules of the game, you're screwed. it's impossible to win. There are little doodads you can pick up, and special squares you can take over to help you do better, but those relentless drones and bad guys are going to overpower you every time. I tried to play the game perhaps 6-7 times, each time I lasted for about 5 minutes before I got run over. I guess this might have made an ok arcade game, 40 years ago, to get kids to throw away their quarters before moving on. but ah as a modern game, the enjoyment level is somewhere just above zero. I was REALLY really hoping to have a blast with this game, too. I sincerely wish people would make more games like it.. just don't make them so that they're impossible to beat, or at least enjoy.

Tormented Souls

"We hope you like what you see"

A young lady in a short skirt and a halter-top leather jacket, smashing bad guys in the face with a crow bar, splattering blood all over the room and herself. What's the opposite of totally legit?? ;) As others have said, it looks like a visually interesting game, but after you're done gawking at the naked girl in the bathtub, the replayability level is going to be floating around zero. This one is a hard pass for me, until someday when it's on sale for $3. Even then, I'll probably pass if its selling point is a naked girl in a bathtub. Also, I don't recall any old school games named "From Resident Evil" (also stated above). It makes me wonder if this isn't made a by a foreign production company, cranking out low production value games that they just assume American consumers will lap up like the dogs that they are.

Cloudpunk: Ultimate Edition

Third game in a row

I guess it's the year to make cyberpunk games with: 1) HD backdrop 2) voxel characters 3) female protagonist 4) no plotline Because this is the third one in a row I've run across. Are these the Unity cash-grab games I'm reading about? Because geez, way to water down the quality, GoG.
