When if first came out I was hyped up about this game, as I loved MOO2. But after playing it a bit I came to see what a lot of people see in this game ... a bad sequel to an amazing series. It has some nice features, but these are overshadowed by the sheer crappiness of the game. This is one game I would NOT recommend buying.

UFO Afterlight is the sequel to both Aftermath and Aftershock, but apart from a reappearance of the Reticulans this game bears little resemblance to the predecessors. The game plays on Mars and you are trying to terraform Mars into a habitable world of the ten of thousands of people in cyro storage. The primary antagonists in this story are the "Beastmen" with some other roles for Reticulans (2 kinds), Robots, and ... green Martians xD The tactical side of the game feels like Aftershock/Aftermath, but the strategical side of the game is a re-design of Aftershock. The squad you start with initially is the squad you have to play the game with ... there are 3 new human characters introduced, and some aliens characters that you can play with. This makes the use of robotic drones in some missions a welcome addition. The game is similar enough to Aftermath and Aftershock to allow players of those games to quickly jump in to the game, but different enough to not feel stale. Good purchase, but somewhat low replayability.

UFO Aftershock is the sequel to UFO Aftermath, however it lacks a good portion of it's predecessor's "dark feel". While the game plays better then Aftermath in some respects it severely lacks the atmosphere of the original game. Basically this game is fun for about one play-through and after that you'll want to move on to other games.

Let's discuss UFO Aftermath: 1. It is not X-Com, don't even try to compare them. Granted the Greys (Reticulans) resemble Sectiods but the similarities stop there. 2. If you feel the need to compare it to another game, it feels a bit like Fallout with some Strategical elements added. Okay now that is out of the way let's talk shop, graphic wise the game isn't the best of best even for the time it got released in. The game doesn't have a lot of music files and only a hand full of sound files. Don't expect creepy music when you are sneaking up on aliens. The game is challenging at first, when you are running around with SMGs and Shotguns the game is very challenging, later on as your soldiers gain levels and you get better equipment it starts to get easier. Expect to lose a few soldiers early on if you are not careful. Some missions (Alien bases and UFOs) are ... annoying in design. Finally, the good tends to "slow" down to longer you play. All in all, a decent game, not as good as the later games of the series, Aftershock and Afterlight.

Evil Genius is a game that fills a small niche when compared to similar games. Efficient base design is very important in this game, as your base needs to be both defensible and practical. Downside of the game is sometimes "clunky" interface. If you like the genre I recommend Evil Genius for you to play.
