My perspective comes from someone wanting to focus on the story arc across all three Mafia Games. I wanted to finish the trio and do it myself. I did not invest much time in side content , optional missions , etc. Even despite being entirely story focused: this game ended up overstaying its welcome. I am thankful for it to be over. Graphics are great overall, there's some good gun play, sometimes driving can be enjoyable (**sometimes definitely not), and there are a few good story moments. There are also some narrative elements that are cheesy, ridiculous and misplaced, lack cohesion in an identity for the game, and just drove me nuts. I rolled my eyes at one point asking if I mistakenly opened metal gear solid or a detective game. The character movement has this momentum to it that makes some longer battles incredibly frustrating. Keybinds are a odd choice. Then of course are going to be the thing you will probably hear a lot about: the bugs. You're going to have many things pull you out of immersion from bad graphical issues, to no sound in some scenes, crashes where you have to trick the game into letting you get through the "do much damage as possible" mission.... and if I have one piece of advice for you if you're going to grind through this on PC its that you bring a controller alongisde your mouse. There are some scenes where you're asked to "rotate" and item with your mouse that do not work and will block you from progress. I had to literally simultaneously trigger rotation a smidge with the right stick on controller and then it would let mouse finish. Without that workaround I couldnt find any way around those issues. The tone/theme can be cool at times and then just really offputing. The acting is pretty good but its just a bit too much cliche. A lot of "trying to be funny" that falls flat a lot of the time. There was part of me thinking I might give it 3-stars at one point for the highlights and that on occassion I could find myself enjoying.Nah
