Like probably many others i had this game when i was a kid in the 90s. But even for today it's quite amazing given how many mechanics it has to offer. Base plot is nothing special, you against some evil demon dude, but i like the voice of the narrator. There are 25-30 different levels on your way, during which you will amass an amazing arsenal of spells. In each level you basically do the same: You defeat enemies, capture their essence (in form of golden mana spheres) which gives you a bigger base mana pool, allowing you to cast more and stronger versions of your own spells. With another spell you build an (up to 6 times) upgradable castle (a safe haven which you return to if you get killed), which has some baloons collecting your mana around the map. The map quests differ from just fighting through a dungeon to destroying other magicians (who will try to steal your marked mana with their baloons) and their castles. It's sometimes unfair, sometimes buggy, some things are not really explained but it has its charm. If you can see past the very old graphics you will find around 8-10 hours of nice 3D magic action :D Regarding configs: I had to reduce the cycles value in the config file (some other reviewer made a nice post on that), otherwise the game ran too fast.
