I have played it with every character also with the expansion back in the days. The game is quite good, but it has several flaws, which were fixed/changed in Diablo 2. So maybe it is good as a start, but sequel is much better for long play. CONS - the characters are moving very slow, in expansion the speed was increased - small number of items and their variations - no respawn. I had several problems to kill the bosses, because my character was weak or have terrible equipment. So mostly no grinding is possible.
Three different characters, three different stories, three different game-plays, three different campaigns, but only one campaign is unlocked at the beginning. The others opens later. I remember that the most painful problem was no save option. You have to complete full mission. At the end of the first campaign, the missions are long and hard (if the game is not stable, then it will be impossible to complete). The other two campaigns are easier than the first one, which is not optimal for the game.
It's a good game, I have enjoyed playing it. But the change from point and click adventure to third person adventure is not flawless. I don't liked the combat parts of this game, they were too flat and you cannot skip them. Also sneaking parts are boring. If you endure these worse parts you will get an excellent adventure game that will extend the story of The Longest Journey.
