Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty

No one wins in night City...

... even if we have to rewrite, by which I mean mangle, all your favourite characters to make the 'good' ending truly miserable.

Cyberpunk 2077

Level scaling?

They took a five star, one of the best ever, games and added level scaling. For skill checks. Fix this Oblivion-style nonsense and my review goes from one star to five stars. This is level scaling: you are 17 years old. You get a job in a warehouse. You can lift a 25kg bag of cement. Five years later, you worked hard, you can use the computer systems without thinking, you have your forklift certificates, you are running the late shift. You can no longer lift the bag of cement because the warehouse levelled up with you.

GreedFall – Gold Edition

Good old new RPG

I loved this. Choices matter, you can't use that weapon without the skills/attributes, very few filler side quests, island looks great, story is serviceable. Skills/progression etc. are all simple but functional. Companions aren't works of epic poetry but all their quests range from OK to enjoyable. Nothing is ground-breaking but it all 'just works'. The crew at Bethesda should play this game before they fill their next game with unnecessary content. If that all sounds underwhelming or just average, in my opinion the whole is more than the sum of the parts. Playing it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience from start to finish and that's all that matters Cons: Some animations are a little ropy, cutscenes remind me of the Zappa song I came from Nowhere, "they like going around with their teeth showing all the time". DO NOT use ultra textures if you have 6GB or less VRAM, my 1660 Super stuttered like hell until I turned them down to high. Had one main quest specific item not spawn but leaving the cave and re-entering fixed it.

Horizon Zero Dawn™ Complete Edition

I didn't think I would like this...

,,, as a dinosaur robot game sounds as though it would be awful. Like being hyped for every pirate then preparing for the almost inevitable disappointment. Then I saw it was on sale, bought it, started playing and then only stopped playing for work and sleep. Great gameplay (though I am used to a controller, getting old and WASD hurts), plot and world are weird in a good way, nice back-story you find naturally through the game, graphics are more than good enough, just wish there was more DLC and am waiting for a sequel. My playthrough was totally bug free, though obviously that is anecdotal, no guarantees. Cons: can get a bit grindy in places and if you are like me and have to do everything possible, rather than blaze through the plot, it might get a little repetitive. Basically the same problems as most open-world ARPGs.
