I like it - honest opinion
I am not soul-like player I`ve seen this game during gog spring sale and I got it cause of art, it is beautiful game.
I don't think it is a bad game, it has some questionable decisions but in general I like it. Great art, good combat I like it very much.
I read people are talking about crashes, I never experienced that game runs well high and constant framerate, on gog galaxy works perfectly.
As I already said I am not soul-like player so I am seeing game from different perspective as a good Indie game which I enjoy very much.
Based on my experience I think this game deserve more credit.
update after spending 20 hours playing:
My first impression of the game was written after just a few hours. Now, after 20 hours and reaching 50% progression, I can say much more, but my opinion remains the same: I still think this is a great game, and my 4-star rating is realistic.
After 20 hours of playing on maximum settings, I haven't encountered a single technical issue—no crashes, no major bugs, nothing. The game runs perfectly. If there were any serious flaws, I would have certainly encountered them by now.
The main problem with the game occurs when it shifts to 2D mode for platforming segments. The camera is positioned too close, making it difficult to see far enough ahead, which makes platforming quite challenging. Most of my deaths were a result of these awkward platforming sections rather than the monsters themselves.
Regarding the inventory: items are very important, and over time, you will collect two or even three tabs full of masks and fragments. The game never fully explains what they are for; there are descriptions, but even after reading them, you aren't always sure of their purpose. However, farming and collecting fragments is essential for upgrading your health, recovery, or Aether (mana). Since there are so many of them, you will easily end up with multiple pages of items as you progress.
Another thing worth mentioning is that once you enter the "Ancient World"—a huge open map—the FPS drops drastically from 140 to 80-90. It is a massive area, and the game doesn't explicitly tell you where to go. There aren't any traditional quest markers; you have to rely on your log to understand your objectives, but the location of those objectives remains vague. The world is huge, and there is a hovercraft, but most players miss it because it isn't marked or shown on the map. The world map itself is well-designed with major areas to explore, but most require a key to enter, and the game provides no guidance on where to find those keys or how to progress further.
After 20 hours and completing 50% of the content, I still believe this game deserves a 4-star rating. The art is amazing, the combat is fair but challenging, and the progression system is well-executed.
