Far Cry® 2: Fortune's Edition

Flawed genius

I wish there was a 2 and a half star rating for this game because everything good in this game is counteracted by everything bad. You can tell by the reviews that every 5 star idea has a 2 star execution. Your heart wants to love the game but your brain notices things that break the fun. Such as weapons conveys with no destinations they'll rotate around the same area untill the end of time or if you kill them. Rusted jamming guns that you pick up from the enemy despite the fact they worked with no flaws when the enemy is shooting at you. Working for both factions because you are forced to giving the beautiful barren wasteland no real story or connection. Unlike FC3 though there wasn't any "don't leave the mission area in this open world game " that i can remember which is a huge plus. I loved navigating the world despite not alot of things to find ,bar diamonds and the variety of weapons was fun along with a trusty companion to save the day. I ts a shame you can't connect with any of the npc's because i really wanted to. The story has you doing alot of rinse and repeat mechanics untill half way through where it gets different and then you rinse and repeat but on a different part of the world again. Yet i finished it had some fun but not as much as i had hoped for. FC2 has the ability to make you want to really love it and i think you should play it to see it's laws and beauties first hand

The Witcher: Enhanced Edition

I don't get it

I know people enjoyed it but honestly as much as i try i get bored. Other rpgs like this i liked alot and i really wanted to get engrossed into the world but couldn't. Alot of rpg's ill overlook dull parts or levels (dragon age i'm looking at you ) if i'm engrossed in the story but the witcher i can't find anything to interest me. 1) The sex- i bring this up due to being told about the mature themes of the witcher such as having sex with anything that ,moves even one i did accidental due to the dialogue choice and words actually spoken were different things. Not a game changer for me but strange in a mature game. 2) Amnesia main character - great now 2 people know nothing about the game world or what's really at stake. 3) The potions etc are ok if you really like alchemy etc you'll like it. 4) The voice acting is not just bad but some sound bored which i find harder to forgive in games with bad acting but good gameplay. 5)The story and characters i just don't find are anything special which eliminated my interest and i kept coming back every month before giving up. Give it a go however i must be missing something that people get from this game that i don't.

Deus Ex 2: Invisible War

Play it to see what went wrong

Even played out of the context of deus ex 1 its simply just a poor game / shooter. Universal ammo is never a good idea and eliminates the "wow i found some more darts for my tranquzliser" moments. The augs and stats are removed and the augs are ok but i miss the leveling up system coinciding with the augs from deus ex 1 which is removed from the latter deus ex games it made more sense to me in the context of the world. The story starts out well but it destroyed by the lack of consequence in the factions and its hard due to trying to incorporate all 3 endings from the 1st game into this plot. The pacing and the levels are fairly small making the grand scale of the locations feel small and ruined some of my immersion. It's not a good game but every now and again i feel that the people who made this tried but they didn't "get" deus ex or were afraid a wider audience wouldn't get deus ex . P.S i would talk about the AI but honestly its probably great AI compared to most FPS games.

Nexus: The Jupiter Incident

The top review says it all

Fun game but i found myself getting frustrated due to some of the bugs and baffling design mentioned such as only being able to use navigation points in space. Soemtimes... ok alot of the time i use a walkthrough to find out i have been failed due to a bug or non event . However when it does work it is great and despite the frustrations i keep coming back wnatign to finish it and see. You can save during missions (just don't alt tab or you cannot save again untill you load the game). The story so far isn't amazing but its better than sc2 in terms of sci fi plots. if you like trial and error strategy with cool fights check this out its worth a shot.

To The Moon

Decent but....

The problem is i could literally say watch a lets play and get the same experience which is what i did half way through this game. The story is emotional but also a bit over the top in the drama and the portray of one of the main characters which didn't make sense to me as a excuse for their actions. It is well written but hugely emotionally manipulative and overly so in my opinion. This must be the only game where i can't really find anything to say about the game play , i guess if you found the walking dead puzzles too hard for you then this is the game for you.

Deus Ex™ GOTY Edition

Worth they hype and your time

It took me 3 tries to get into this game. before i realized what this was about , unlike today games there were no achievements for playing non lethal but people did so anyway because they believed in the game world. A variety of options and level design some i still find new areas in my 4th or 5th play through due to the level design almost tricking you into thinking its linear due to the skill sets you have chosen. even the music still holds up today whilst nothing completely amazing it adds to the feel of the game without being intrusive. A good story with real choices of ambiguous endings the only downside is the graphics and some of the voice acting. In conclusion im glad i persisted and finally understood deus ex and why people hold it in such high regard and play it still this day.
