Grim Dawn

Absolutely delicious

Never played Diablo 3, but I bet this is a good option, I decided to go with demolitionist for my first character and I feel I made the right decision, the monsters love to swarm you and throw missiles and aoe at you, so kiting is a necessity, and your best bet is to find a way to do a lot of aoe aswell with some degree of health steal (even 10% is good enough to keep you alive), and maximizing the resistances has a great impact, this game focuses a lot in health regeneration, it expects you to take and dish out insane amounts of damage and that's why you can stack up to 100 healing potions The devotion system is a bit overwhelming, but you can pay to reset your points which is great I'll wait for a discount on the dlc to try them out, now that I have a better understanding of the game I'd love to play as a necromancer ah, and for the love of everything that is dear to you play in veteran mode, normal mode is ridiculously easy

What a pleasant surprise

Double fine has done it again, what a great game, is a rather easy metroidvania, but it is an enjoyable experience with a nice design overall, the backgrounds, the levels, the music and the voice acting, it all has a charming quality to it, you know, the usual double fine flavor, its biggest flaw is that it should have been longer with more boss battles, I hope we can get a sequel in the future

Firewatch

That was an interesting summer

Some may call this a "walking simulator", but it is more than that, it feels more like reading a book, you just want to see more of it, find the little secrets, explore all the nooks and be in the right place at the right time. It is well written and focused, with likeable and somehow relatable characters, by the time of the big reveal I had several theories in my mind (even some outlandish ones - I blame the duck for that) and that's a good sign for a story. Excellent game, probably the best "walking simulator" I have ever played. I'll replay it some time in the future to see if my decisions actually have some impact in the ending.

ELDERBORN

Dark Messiah of Might and then some

This game is perfect to get that adrenaline pumping, I was skeptical because there are no ranged weapons or magic spells, not even shields, but this barbarian don't need that kind of coward tools, only pure and brutal melee, face enemies that hit like trucks, outmaneuver them and parry like your like depends on it (it does), but more importantly, become the ultimate kicking machine The combat is fluid, the graphics are nice (although the zones are not as varied), and the music gets you in the mood for some monster slaughter, I like how the ending sets up the stage for a far more crazy adventure, I really hope they can do a sequel because this is the spiritual successor to Dark Messiah every fan has been waiting for Stop reading and start playing, and have fun trying to complete all those insane achievements

Dandara: Trials of Fear Edition

Don't let this one fly under your radar

This game is way better than I expected, The mechanics are unique in the best way possible, I really like how snappy the movement is especially with the "aim assist" for the movement conrrols, every move is a puzzle when it come to the most frantic parts (like the boss fights), the artstyle is nice, with avried zones and enemies. And on top of that the music is top notch This game deserves my best rating 4.5/5, I loved every minute of it

The Evil Within 2

Good gameplay, stupid plot

OK, first things first, the game is very entertaining, it is not as tense as the first one (except for the sections with anima), has improved stealth mechanics (which give you better control over the battlefield) and much more aggresive enemies. The bosses are more straightforward (aka more shooting, less puzzle), overall a good experience, as long as you don't mind the stupid plot because I had to lock the framerate at 60 to avoid performance issues and I only ran into a couple of minor bugs SPOILERS AHEAD (I'm gonna ramble about all the bullcrap in the plot) Holy s**t the story is bonkers, Mobius is suposedly almighty, but you have to wonder how did they get this far when they fail as hard as they do in their plans? What's the point of STEM? apparently global mind control via simulation, but if everyone gets to live inside a simulation, then what? who's gonna pay for keeping all those bodies alive? If people die inside STEM, where are all the bodies irl? What happens to Syke? Either he succeds escaping and wakes up in a Mobius facility somewhere and gets immediately aprehended, or he vanishes into oblivion, either way his head is gonna explode when everyobne else's do (what a pointless subplot) And on top of that the game keeps killing secondary characters, trying to make you feel bad when in the end they all would be dead anyways via the brain chips Which comes full circle to the stupidity of Mobius, who in the hell decided it was a good idea to link their brain implants to the highly experimental machine?, "yeah yeah, it all went to s**t last time, but we are sure nothing bad will happen this time, sohook up everyone's chip to the machine, and make sure those chips explode in case of a critical failure" And why don't those chips get vital sensors so Mobius knows when someone dies or removes their implant? Because the plot demands it I thought Umbrella was stupid, but Mobius runs cricles around it

The Evil Within

If you like RE4 you'll probably like it

the weapons are cool and impactful, the puzzles are not that hard, it is supposed to be a horror game, but you rarely run out of ammo if you aim for the head, some of the bosses are a real pain in the ass, but atleast there's not a boss that is just 15 QTEs in a row so it is better than re4 in that regard, the story is not bad, but is the usual megacorp shenanigans (ie, megacorp does some stupid mistake because their scientist lack any kind of foresight) and the game is very stingy whenn it comes to give you some lore, which leaves the characters without any kind of progression I only played The assignment and the coonsequences dlcs, they are not fun at all, stealth is the weakest part of this game and those missions are 99.9% stealth, my game crashed during the last boss of the consequences and I'm done with this game Good enough as an RE4 clone, but nothing that will blow out your mind, 3,7/5 in my subjective fun scale

EVERSPACE™

I stay away from roguelikes, but

My love for space shooters is stronger than my dislike for roguelikes, ever since I played Freelancer all those years ago I fell inlove with the genre and this game is a great entry, progression is painful and slow, but with enough patience and a bit of luck you can conquer it I'd say is a 3.8/5, I only wish it had more "classic" approach, losing my beloved weapons at the start of every run is a pain Also, I encountered the strangest bug, I remapped my "system menu" key, but the second time I ran the game the key stopped working and the "system menu" bind option disappeared from the menu, now I can't open the system menu while playing and the only way I have to stop a session is to die and jhit escape on the hangar screen or outright hit alt+f4

DUSK

I needed this in my life

After playing the underwhelming Doom 3 I am so glad I started this one, is absolutely awesome, the graphics are nice specially if you are into the retro style, the music is a gift from heaven that gets you pumped, the game showers you with fast paced combat, key hunting, secrets, awesome weapons without a reloading mechanic, meaty gore, impactful sound effects and great level design with a creepy ambience without dropping the pace If you are remotely interested in FPS this is a must, totally recommended
