Rayman Raving Rabbids™

Barely a Rayman

I remember getting this game for Christmas when I was a kid. Loved it back then, finished the whole game and replayed it many times. Now Im 29, and I thought to myself, why not revisit the classic? Now that I'm older and (Arguably) smarter, I can see the complete downgrade that this game is compared to the previous titles. I 'm not touching on the whole precedent that the Rabbids would bring to the Rayman Franchise as a whole, that's a separate issue on it's own, I'm talking about the game from pure gameplay perspective. Some of the minigames are fun, but majority of them are comparable to what you could find on CoolMathGames back in 2010. They're repetitive, uncreative, and some of them are just plain bad and boring. The storyline is as surface level as it gets, and it almost feels like it's just an excuse to make this game even related to Rayman at all. Even graphically the game feels like a downgrade to the previous game. Rayman model moves in a very strange way, his face always feels just a bit off, like something is wrong about it. Rabbids are pretty basic in look, but even then, they often use minimalistic models during a bunch of minigames that, in close up, makes them look like they belong in PS1. I guess majority of the budget for the game went to paying for licenses so they could use a bunch of popular songs in the game. Finished the whole game in under 4 hours. Marginally fun. Mostly not though.
