General: Problems with the GOG Downloader

IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT THE GOG.COM DOWNLOADERThe Downloader is no longer being developed by us and, while it remains a fully functional application, we cannot guarantee that it will remain this way indefinitely, for instance if we update our infrastructure in a way that is incompatible with the old application.We strongly suggest using our new GOG Galaxy application, which offers all the benefits of the Downloader (including downloading classic installer files, with error-protection) and adds more convenience and new functionalities. Cannot log in (login/password incorrect)

If you are sure that you are typing in the correct login and password, please follow an appropriate guide:
Windows version,
Mac OS X version.

Downloader crashing or freezing after a while on Mac OS X 10.9+
This may result from the "App Nap" function introduced in Mavericks. Please disable it either globally, or for the Downloader. Details on how to do this can be found in this guide.

"Cannot fetch game data" error when trying to download
This means that you are using an old, unsupported version of the Downloader and need to download the latest one.
If this isn't the problem, it's possible that we were editing the files while you were downloading them. Please click this link to refresh your account, just in case, then cancel your download and try again.

“Error on chunk X please contact support" (corrupt or interrupted downloads):
If you're experiencing this issue, please go into the Downloader's settings, limit the amount of concurrent downloads to 1, shut down the Downloader, and try downloading the game once more.
There are two possible reasons known to us:
1) The user's Internet connection is under stress and the Downloader is unable to request further file "chunks", after multiple attempts,
2) A part of a game's files is damaged on one of our mirrors. This is extremely rare, but we will refresh the suspected games across our CDN within a few hours after processing this support ticket.
If the problem persists after limiting the amount of concurrent downloads to 1, please contact Support - it might mean that we need to either reload the installer files on our file hosting servers, or re-generate their MD5 checksums.

Nothing happens when you click the "Game installer" or "Combined bonus content pack" buttons,
404 error after you click the "Game installer" or "Combined bonus content pack" buttons,
Browser claims it does not recognize the application:

If your computer is using Intel Rapid Storage technology, make sure to updatre its driver.
Otherwise, the Downloader may not have been properly assigned to your browser. By default, the Downloader's installer creates the appropriate Windows Registry keys, which are then used by most browsers. Sometimes it may not be allowed to do so, for instance by anti-virus software, or not confirming the default settings in the browser itself. Please follow this guide to make sure that it is registered.

The Downloader stays offline,
Unable to log in,
Very slow downloads:

First, redownload and reinstall the Downloader, just in case you're using an old version.
If that doesn't help, make sure that your anti-virus and/or firewall software isn't blocking the Downloader, and the address. Instructions on how to do this vary from program to program.

Crashes (at launch or while running).
First, redownload and reinstall the Downloader, just in case you're using an old version.
If that doesn't help, delete the contents of your user account's folder - its location depends on your operating system:
Windows Vista/7: C: -> Users -> USERNAME -> AppData -> Local ->
Windows XP: C: -> Documents and Settings -> USERNAME -> Local Settings -> Application Data ->
Afret you enter this folder, and delete all of its contents, try launching the Downloader.
If that doesn't help as well, you should verify that your .NET installation isn't corrupted. To do this, download this tool and choose .NET 3.5 SP1.

Not enough free space (as reported by the Downloader):
The Downloader requires two times as much space as the game's installer takes. This is because it downloads partial “chunk” files first, and then merges them to create the actual game installer. I apologize if this is an inconvenience. Once the merging is complete, the “chunk” files are automatically deleted, so they don't take up the extra space indefinitely.

Unstable download speed (varies from slow to fast):
Go into the Downloader's settings and try setting a higher number of concurrent downloads.

White Downloader windows (no user interface on launch):
Verify that your .NET installation isn't corrupted. To do this, download this tool and choose .NET 3.5 SP1. If that doesn't help, download and install the latest graphics card drivers possible. This should fix the problem.
